Emerald Eyes

Chapter 20: The Other World

Consciousness came back accompanied with an explosion of both uneasiness and agony. The first thing that I felt was the unexplainable heat running down my throat. Fire seems to be flowing through it that's making me whimper.

The second thing I noticed is the sound of the continuous trickle of water very close from where I am lying right now. The loud drops that it's making is quite disturbing. I still can't manage to open my eyes but I am fully conscious. All I see is a faint blue smokey light over my closed eyelids.

What the hell happened? Why am I this thirsty? At kahit na nakapikit pa rin ang dalawang mata ko ay nahihilo ako. Parang umiikot ang paligid na tila lalong nakakapag-pasama ng aking pakiramdam.

I focused my attention into opening both of my eyes when suddenly a shadowy shaped figure appeared in front of me, blocking the faint blue light.

Ang kaninang mga tuloy-tuloy na pagtulo ng tubig na naririnig ko ay para bang naantala saglit ngunit agad naman na bumalik. Then I felt a hand caressing my cheek together with a very familiar voice.

"Ven?"

I tried to talk but no words came out of my open mouth. Instead, what came out was a very hoarse moan that even myself was shocked because of its sound.

Nararamdaman ko ang marahang paghimas ni Vyl sa buhok ko na agad na nagpakalma sa aking sistema. Naramdaman ko na lang na unti-unti ng bumukas ang talukap ng aking mga mata.

As expected, my eyesight was first blurry. But each time I close and open my eyes, it slowly cleared and I am now faced towards his emerald eyes that again gave me an ecstatic feeling. Nakangiti siya ng marahan ngayon habang nakatingin sa akin.

"How are you feeling?" Tanong niya na hindi ko naman masagot kahit gustuhin ko dahil sa pananakit ng aking lalamunan.

I moved my right hand weakly and touched my throat. Ilang beses akong lumulunok ng laway pero agad akong napapangiwi.

"You can talk to me through our mind link," he said with a mocking tone. He's now smiling at me amusingly but I just gave him a deadpan look.

Oo nga pala. Bakit ko ba nakalimutan?

"My throat hurts like hell."

Reklamo kong sagot sa kaniya habang pilit pa rin na lumulunok ng laway.

Nakita kong napakunot ang kaniyang noo at bumakas ang pag-aalala sa kaniyang mukha. He caressed my cheek one last time before standing up. Hindi ko man lang namalayan na nakaupo pala siya sa gilid ko.

Ang kaninang tubig na sinasabi kong maingay na tumutulo ay para bang nagsisilbing pintuan ng silid ng kinaroroonan ko. It's like a blue waterfall flowing gently. I can see a window on the other side where light is coming through. Ito na yata iyong sinasabi kong asul na liwanag na naaaninag ko noong nakapikit ako.

But what shocked me is not about the water serving as the door of the room, but it's when the water moved when Vyl walked through it. Para bang umiwas ang tubig noong dumaan si Vyl kaya hindi siya nabasa noong lumabas ng silid. Ilang segundo rin akong nakatitig sa kulay asul na tubig na ito.

Fuck, it's weird.

I scanned the whole room. I just realized I am also in a weird looking room. The walls are somehow brownish in color with intricate designs carved on it. Some parts of the room's wall are covered with tree branches and thick vines. There's a window beside me and one across the water door. The roof above me is very high that no human height could ever reach it, except of course if he would fly.
