—Narrator—
It was 3 am and Max Sinclair was awoken by a sharp kick in her stomach. She groaned in pain. This caused Lucas to wake up. He was concerned when he saw her in pain.
"Is he kicking again?" Lucas asked curiously while putting his arms around her waist.
"Yes. Why can't he kick when I'm not trying to sleep," Max whined.
Lucas felt bad and wanted to try and help. He slowly caressed her swollen stomach rubbing it in circles. It didn't seem to help but Lucas had another idea.
"Here let me try something," Lucas said while laying his head on Max's chest to be closer to their unborn child. Max was confused but once he started talking she understood what he was doing.
"Boy, you're gonna know it all. You'll think you're ten feet tall. Run like you're built proof. And total a car or two." Max smiled hearing her husband talk to their child.
"You're gonna hate this town and wish you could burn it down. With a fire in your eyes, that's twenty counties wide." Lucas explained knowing how he felt growing up in this small town.
"But you're gonna love seventeen and you'll do some stupid things. You're gonna drive, and kiss, and throw a punch, and grow up way too fast. You're gonna drop the ball, hit a wall, and break some hearts like glass." Lucas said recalling all of his past memories.
"I know you will. 'Cause, you're a part of me and a part of you will always be a boy."
Max sat quietly loving every word her husband was saying. She loved the little moments they had together. Lucas continued on talking while still stroking her belly.
"You're gonna be so stubborn. You get that from your mother," Lucas chuckled while Max playfully hit his arm. He turned around to look in her eyes and started talking more to her than their soon to be son.
"I already see it now you weren't built for backing down," Lucas said while looking longingly into his wife's eyes and remembering her persistence.
"There'll be a small town night when you fall for her sky blue eyes and when she's in your hands you'll think you're a man." Max smiled and remembered the day she fell for Lucas Sinclair.
While still looking into her eyes Lucas said, "She'll make you lose your mind and she'll be every reason why." Max lifted his head up and gave him a soft kiss. He then returned to her stomach and started speaking again.
"It's 3 am and I'd do anything to get you back to sleep. And one day I'll see your face in the rearview the day I watch you leave." Lucas said remembering that his son will one day be a man.
"But boy, you're gonna come back home. You're gonna settle down but you won't feel the way I'm feeling now," Lucas explained softly.
"Until you have a boy. He's gonna know it all. You'll think he's ten feet tall. Run like he's bulletproof. And total a car or two," Lucas ended quietly realizing their son stopped kicking.
Max looked at her husband in awe after everything he said. She loved this side of him. The side only she got to see. He made his way back up to the pillows and laid beside Max. They laid there in silence for a while just enjoying each other's presence. Soon enough there would be no silence and it would be filled with cries from their little boy.
"I love you so much Stalker"
Lucas smiled at his nickname given to him almost 14 years ago.
"I love you too MadMax. Forever and always."
With that, they both fell asleep grateful that Max had beaten the high score on digdug 13 years before.
