Tonight is the first night Hawkins has their annual spring festival. The local park turns into a lavish celebration with carnival games, amusement rides, and food stands that sell the greasiest foods people can imagine.

The party was planning to go altogether. That is until Max and Lucas got into an immense argument this morning. It's been years since they've gotten into a fight. Even then, they made up by lunch but not this time. Neither of them has spoken to each other all day.

El agreed that she and Max would do their own thing, and the boys would do theirs. The carnival was big...just not big enough.

"Let's just forget the boys and enjoy the carnival, okay?" El was trying her best to excite Max and not let the whole fight with Lucas bring her down. "Come on, let's go on the super loop!" El tugged Max by the arm as they ran to get in line.

Will could spot Max and El from the top of the drop tower. Although he loved Dustin, Mike, and Lucas, some things are more fun when everyone is together. He mainly wanted to tell them about this cute guy he saw earlier. Even though Will came out to the party, he felt weird talking to the guys about his crushes. El and Max always want the details while the guys just nod their heads and say things like "nice" and "cool." He doesn't blame them. I mean, he isn't too keen on hearing about their romantic lives either.

Although El told Max they would do their own thing, it was exhausting having to dodge the guys 24/7. Yes, she loves riding rides and playing games with Max, but El wanted to do those things with her boyfriend too. So, she had an idea.

El told Max to get them some food while she grabbed some seats at a table. Once Max turned the corner, El sprinted to the bathrooms. Mike and Will were waiting for Lucas and Dustin by the bathrooms when El almost tackled them.

"Jesus Christ, El" Will exclaimed.

"I need...your help" El said between breaths. El knew she needed to work out more, but she didn't think she was that out of shape.

"What's wrong?" Mike went into worried, overprotective boyfriend mode.

El began to explain her plan. They would meet at the ferris wheel at 8:30 and get in line together. To Max and Lucas, it would seem like a coincidence they were there at the same time. Then, Will would suggest Mike and El could go on the ferris wheel together while he and Max would. However, at the last minute, Will would switch places with Lucas. So, when the bar is locked in place, Max and Lucas would have no choice but to talk and figure things out.

Even though Lucas is confused about the problem, he hates fighting, and he is willing to go through with this plan.

At 8:30, both groups run into each other to get into the ferris wheel line.

"You've got to be kidding me," Max rolls her eyes, and El gives her a little whack.

"Oh my god! Hey guys," Will acts as if he hadn't been rehearsing this line in his head over and over again. "Max, do you want to ride together so El and Mike can you know..." Will asked with a disgusted look on his face.

"As long as we go in front of them. I don't need to see my poor, innocent El making out with curly over there."

"Sounds like a good deal to me."

EL gave Lucas a subtle wink while Max did her best to avoid him. Only three more groups until it was Max's turn.

The ride worker summoned the next in line and Max went to sit down. While she was looking down, trying to find the end of the seat belt, Lucas climbed in. The bar locked them into place when Max looked up and found out who was next to her.

"You jerks! Get me off this thing," Max yelled, but the worker didn't get paid enough to care, so he started the ride. She kept her eyes locked on the sunset and didn't dare to face him. Although she could feel his eyes boring into the back of her head.

"You know, we might as well talk about it," Lucas suggested.

"What's there to talk about?" Max asked after a long pause.

"Don't play dumb with me. I am so confused about why you are upset with me! I swear to god, I try so hard to be the best boyfriend for you. So, please just talk to me," Lucas was exasperated.

"You just won't understand, okay," Max finally turned to face him.

"You're right, I don't understand."

"I didn't break up with you because you did something. It's what you didn't do."

"I'm so lost," Lucas admits while Max huffs out in frustration.

"That's a shock," Max rolls her eyes after her sarcastic comment. "You really have no clue do you?" She waited for a response, but he just signaled for her to keep talking. "You're telling me you haven't noticed the way Angela and her "girl squad" act around you? I mean, they're practically begging for it! It's not that I care they think you're hot, it's the way you unintentionally feed into it," Max couldn't care less if other girls think Lucas is hot. In fact, she thinks it's great as long as they know she's with him because he picked her.  "Lucas, I trust you with every bone in my body, but you don't realize that you are flirting with so many girls!"

"They are not attracted to me!" Lucas swears.

"Look, I know how hard it is for a guy to realize when a girl is flirting with him, but another girl can recognize it from a mile away. So, I am telling you, they are all flirting with you, they are all trying to get every ounce of attention from you."

"Okay, so maybe some things they say are a little suspicious, but what am I supposed to do? Ignore them?" Lucas began recalling a bunch of conversations he has had with the girls and is kinda astonished.

"You don't have to ignore them just don't play into their game. I'm not gonna force you to stop talking to certain people cause that's just fucking ridiculous, and I know I'd be pissed if you told me what to do," Max didn't know what else to say to get her point across. "I just can't fathom being replaced in the party. All of you guys have been my rock since I got here, and I don't want to lose that."

"Max, you'll never lose us. Whether we stay together or not all of us will always be here to support you. As for Angela and her group, I promise I'll lay off with the conversations, but next time, instead of breaking up with me just talk to me about it. I didn't even connect the dots until we had this conversation. I'm sorry for being clueless."

"Well, now I feel bad Stalker," Max says blushing a little.

"You should not feel bad, but you can admit you were a little jealous though."

"I hate you," She said sarcastically.

"You are jealous!" Lucas teased. "No, but for real you have absolutely nothing to worry about. Those girls have nothing on you." He gave a grin.

"Stalker, will you be my boyfriend again?" Max gave in to his undeniable sweetness.

"Only if that means I get to kiss you on the top of this ferris wheel right now."

"I wouldn't have it any other way."

I guess I am writing again. Lol. I didn't revise this, so I hope it makes sense and that there aren't too many spelling errors. I hope you all enjoy and have a great rest of the week!
