"Lucas! Max! Why were you guys out in the storm?" Mrs. Sinclair asked right when they walked through the door. They both just looked at each other and blushed while Mrs. Sinclair was still waiting for her answer.
"We didn't know it was gonna rain mom."
"Okay well go change and give Max some of your clothes as well."
"I was planning on it," Lucas said as he walked up the stairs with Max.

"Here. This is your favorite hoodie right?" Lucas asked while handing her his hoodie and a pair of sweatpants.
"Yeah. Wait how did you know this one is my favorite?"
"Well, it still smells like you from the last time you wore it," Lucas laughed. Max kissed his cheek and went to change in the bathroom.

Once they were both changed they sat in Lucas' bed in each other's arms while looking out the window. The storm was only getting worse. That made Lucas hopeful that his mom would let Max stay the night. He was lost in his own thoughts when he realized Max started talking.
"What exactly happened today? At lunch?"
"Nothing you need to worry about," Lucas said and kissed the top of her head. Max sat up and looked Lucas in the eyes. He knew she wasn't going to let this go.
"Troy and I had a fight."
"Yeah El told me that but why did you fight back?"
"Hold up how does El know?"
"Mike," they both said at the same time.
"You didn't answer my question."
"I wasn't just going to sit there and let him bad mouth you."
"And I appreciate that but I don't want you to get hurt."
"I think I can take Troy."
"I know you can take Troy but that's not who I'm worried about. I wouldn't be surprised if Neil found out soon," Max says sympathetically.
"Max. I'm going to be okay. Nothing's going to happen and if something does we have a plan. It'll all be okay," Lucas says stroking Max's cheek.
"I know but you're the only thing I have left. I can't lose you too."
"And you won't. I promise."
A boom of thunder made Max flinch and crawl back into Lucas' arms. After a while, Max started to talk again.
"I'm sorry," she said.
"What? Sorry for what?" Lucas asked confused.
"How my family makes this so complicated."
"You don't need to apologize for that. Just think in a couple more years we'll be out of here."
"I can't wait."
"Me either. We'll go to college in Cali and then get an apartment there. Or we could move back here and start our lives together. Whatever you want."
"I couldn't care less about where we end up as long as I have you and the party I know we'll be just fine."
"Do you have any thoughts about what you're going to major in?"
"I'm leaning towards journalism but I'm not 100% sure yet."
"Journalism would fit you well. You're great at writing." That smile he loves appeared on her face.
"Thanks. What about you still thinking about computer science?"
"Planning on it."
"You're such a nerd," Erica said coming into Lucas' room. Max laughed.
"I don't understand how you're still with this weirdo," Erica questioned while pointing to Lucas.
"Honestly I don't understand either," Max said laughing while Lucas looked at her with an offended face.
"Oh you know I'm joking," Max snickered.
"Well, what do you want?" Lucas said turning his head back to Erica.
"Mom just wanted me to tell you that she doesn't want Max to go out in the storm. So Max you're invited to a sleepover," Erica said a little excited.
"Cool. Tell your mom I said thank you."
"Will do!" Erica said skipping out of Lucas's room.

"Looks like you're stuck with me, Stalker."
"I wouldn't want it any other way," he said giving her a kiss on the lips.

Let me know if you guys have any other ideas I could write!
