Max was in her room when she heard a knock on her door. She had just gotten out of the shower, so she pulled an oversized hoodie over her head and put on sweatpants. 
"Come in!" She yelled.
It was Lucas.
"How'd you get in?"
His eyes were red.
"Your mom let me in," he whispered before closing the door.
"Babe your eyes are red," she rushed over to him and put both her hands on the sides of his face. His eyes were closed.
"Hey look at me," she spoke softly. He opened his eyes and a tear dropped.

Max quickly wrapped her arms around him, and he started to shake while crying into her shoulder. She began to rub his back. Comforting him before pulling away and grabbing his hands. She pulled him over towards her bed. Lucas wrapped his arms around her and rested his head on her chest. She gently placed a kiss on his head and started massaging his back and playing with his hair. Those were two things that always helped Lucas calm down. Max could still hear him sniffling but luckily he wasn't shaking anymore.
"Did something bad happen?" She whispered to him. He let out a shaky breath but didn't respond to her question.
"Do you not want to talk about it?" He quickly shook his head no in response.
"That's okay," she whispered and added an "I love you" as she ran her hands up and down his back.

A few minutes passed and Lucas cleared his throat.
"C-can you tell me about your day?" He asked knowing that if her day was good, then it would make his better. She nodded kissing his head and starting to play with his hair again. As she told him about her day he began to drift off to sleep. He was snoring quietly and she began to wipe off his leftover tears.
Max whispered, "I love you" before turning on his favorite show so she could catch up on it and eventually talk about it with him. She wanted to make him laugh when he woke up knowing that he must've had a hard day.

It's a little short but it's better than nothing.
