Unexpectedly, the music that they both enjoyed seemed to really bring Tsukishima and Y/N together. They would exchange song recommendations and listen together during breaks and it was like a breath of fresh air after the stress filled first week.
Honestly, Y/N knew that she was just annoyed with Tsukishima in the first place mostly because of her own stubbornness and the first day's... well you know.
The whole day passed by not tediously like the week before had but rather because Y/N felt herself radiating with excitement as the lunch break neared.
Y/N never got along with the other girls in her classes because she shut herself off a lot and she just didn't get why they fawned over the most random boys in the class.
Not even like they are idols....
Leaning forward on her desk, angling very obviously at the clock, Y/N eagerly stared at the seconds hand of the clock as it ticked closer...
Closer....
Closer....BBBBBRRRRIIIIIIINNNNGGGGGGG! The bell rang signalling lunch, and Y/N sprang up, the chair sliding back at her quick movement
Usually eating lunch alone she was eager to listen to the music Tsukishima-kun had provided for her. Grabbing her lunch box Y/N started to sprint outside to eat in the courtyard but she stopped after hearing a voice call after her.
"Ennoshita-chan!"
Y/N turned around to see who had called her with confusion etched upon her face.
Her eyes landed on Suzuki Akira waving her over to her cluster of friends.
In her mind Y/N knew not to be rude, but she really wanted to eat in the peaceful courtyard with only her food and music as company.
Sighing, Y/N pulled a neutral expression and walked over to what was soon to be a massive trainwreck.
"Ah... Suzuki-san..." Y/N let out in a deflated sounding voice. "Do you need anything?"
Suzuki just laughed her high pitched giggle that reminded Y/N of a drowning owl. (Poor Bokuto-san)
"Nonono, I just wanted to ask you something!" Though she smiled in what any oblivious idiot would call an innocent manner, upon nearing closer Y/N saw malice swirling around her narrowed eyes.
Y/N nodded, allowing Suzuki to let her question out quickly so that she could go eat.
"Wellllll...." She did the drawn out voice and Y/N knew something was about to go down at once.
"I didn't know you and Tsukishima-kun are dating? Since when?"
Pin drop silence.
Tsukishima POV:
Looking at the clock, I saw that it was to ring at any second now to signal lunch. I saw a movement out of the corner of my eye and turned to see Ennoshita-chan practically falling out of her chair to see the clock and I suppressed a laugh at her ridiculous obviousness.
The bell rang and it looked like she flew out of her chair she moved so fast.
Turning my phone on so I could organize the songs she told me into a playlist, Yamaguchi and I stood to go eat.
I heard someone call Ennoshita somewhere in the background but I continued to walk.
Just as the last song was added, I put my phone in my pocket and was about to walk out the classroom with Yamaguchi when I heard,
"I didn't know you and Tsukishima-kun are dating? Since when?"
Third person POV:
Y/N stared at Suzuki. Just stared.
The words that had just rolled off of the girl opposite her's overly glossed lips must have been a misunderstanding. Maybe she meant something else?
Like what, Y/N.
Seeing the lack of response from Y/N, Suzuki continued. "Unless you aren't, but I'd HIGHLY doubt that. After all, you're close with Yamaguchi-kun as well and you meet before class."
Behind Y/N, Tsukishima was frozen and his face turned into a glare while Yamaguchi asked him what was going on.
Y/N sighed for the second time, only this time she didn't bother to be polite. "No, we aren't dating it's possible to meet once by coincidence and I'm only friends with him and Yamaguchi-kun who by the way shouldn't be brought into whatever this is."
Suzuki remained unfazed as she pushed her figurative queen in their metaphorical game of chess into check. "Well I wouldn't expect someone like you to manage seducing someone like Tsukishima-kun anyways..." Her tongue flicked over her lips.
Lowering her voice to a whisper that only Y/N could hear, she spoke. "I guess then I'll have a chance myself."
Y/N really couldn't stand this cheap cliched crap.
"Okay, have fun with realizing people aren't objects and that you are not smarter than everyone else in the world because some people do have standards." Y/N turned to walk back out the entrance and stopped by before Tsukishima and Yamaguchi, locking her eyes with the blond.
"But I guess you wouldn't know about that either." She called to Suzuki and grabbed the two boys to bring them with her, leaving Suzuki's angrily flushed face and her brainless minions attempting to comfort her in the classroom.
Checkmate.
