Y/N spent her entire night in her own little bubble of euphoria. It was just a high school relationship, so why did she feel like she was weightless every time her thoughts drifted to Tsukishima?
Chikara, being the smart and observant person he is, noticed right away. And like the teenage boy he was, he teased her relentlessly for it, thinking she had a crush. Well he wasn't wrong.
"Awww, Y/N-ie is in loooooove!" He said, laughing when she just blushed and ran away before he could see.
Calling from over her shoulder she said, "Stoooopppp Chikara you're so annoyinggggggg!"
But maybe she was?
Dressed in uniform, she swung her bag over her shoulder and leaped out the doorway. She immediately saw Kageyama racing with Hinata as usual. Y/N called out, "Shoyo! Tobio! Wait up!"
They turned to her voice, the competition forgotten for the moment. Waving, she skipped over to them (her blissful mode was still going strong). Despite her skirt, she still sprinted along the stamina filled boys as they discussed volleyball.
She was lost in thought through most of the conversation, but soon hear her name and she focused again. Hinata had said, "Y/N-chan, do you want to come with us later to see Asahi-san?"
Y/N hesitated, but nodded. Even though he had left the team, practically abandoned, she still wanted to talk with her senpai in person for the first time in a while. The team had mostly talked with her over video calls when she was in Tokyo.
So her day progressed at a usual pace. Yamaguchi noticed her unusually giggly and happy demeanor when she entered the classroom, and asked her why but she simply shook her head with a large smile painting her face. "Can't tell you, Tadashi."
Tadashi's eyes widened, and guessed. "Is it a guy?" Y/N flushed and hid her face in her hands, embarrassed as the boy continued to say, "It IS?! Tell meeeeee!"
Tsukishima on the other side of Yamaguchi appeared to be listening to his headphones while staring out the window, but he was hiding his blush as well. What? Saltyshima has feelings too.
During the lunch break, the three started to get up to go eat, but Hinata and Kageyama entered the class, the shorter calling out, "Y/N-ie! Let's goooooo!"
Remembering, she waved to Yamaguchi and Tsukishima, saying today she had something to do. On that note, the girls who were staring at Hinata's cute aura and Tobio's cool vibes turned to glare at Y/N as she skipped out the door, sandwiched between the two. One of those pairs of eyes turned relaxed as the rest of her face morphed into a deep smirk.
They reached the third year classrooms, but Shoyo and Tobio grew nervous about actually entering the classroom, and to be honest, so did Y/N. She was just comfortable with those third years she knew.
Soon, a tall male with long brown hair tied into a bun and a small beard in his chin walked out of the classroom and Sugawara came running out, calling, "Wait a minute! Asahi!"
The three turned at the mention of the name, and it caught Suga's attention. "Oh? What are you guys doing here?"
Asahi paused, then turned. He saw Y/N and the two boys, Shoyo hiding behind Tobio. Suga took the opportunity. "These are the first years I mentioned. Hinata Shoyo and Kageyama Tobio. You remember Y/N, right? Ennoshita's cousin?"
Then, he turned to the delinquent duo. "This is Azumane Asahi. He's your senpai." All three kouhai bowed in respect.
Asahi smiled, allowing both Kageyama and Hinata to internally sigh in relief. He's not as scary as he looks. "Oh, really? Then, good luck. Suga-san has a lot of faith in you guys."
Y/N slightly glared. "Aren't you playing with us?"
Hinata nodded. "I want to be ace, so it would be great if I could see a real one in action!"
Asahi shook his head. "Sorry kid. I'm no ace."
And with that, he walked down the hall for his career counseling.
Kageyama curiously turned to Suga. "Did he happen to injure himself while playing?"
Y/N and Suga both shook their heads. The latter spoke, "No, but he may hate volleyball now."
Hinata was now curious as well, so he continued the story. "He was really powerful, but in this one game, his spikes were ruthlessly blocked. Asahi... is the type to carry a huge sense of responsibility. A month ago, he stopped coming to practices. He'd quit."
The sad feeling lingered in the air, before Y/N saw the clock and realized she'd be late to class if she stayed any longer. "Ah, Suga-san! I have to go, class will start soon. These two probably have to go as well! See you at practice then!"
And she ran off, to the classroom, unaware she hadn't eaten a bite.
She landed in her seat just in time as the bell rang, and her lessons for the day continued.
Practice also went smoothly, Nishinoya practiced with the team, but still claimed that he was only there to do just that. Then, Takeda-sensei came running in.
Daichi saw, and gathered the team to listen. Take cleared his throat. "You guys have the Golden week training camp this year, correct?" He looked to Daichi and Suga who nodded. "Well. On the last day, I've arranged a practice game for you guys!"
The team chattered excitedly, and Y/N asked, "Sensei, Who's the game against?"
He pushed up his glasses and said, "It's with our school's old rivals, a high school called Nekoma High School, or they happen to be known as well as Neko (the cats)."
Y/N's heart stopped. The world had stopped turning. Would that really mean?
Daichi asked, "Sensei! How'd you manage to set this up?" to which Takeda replied simply that he had to arrange the game to grab someone's attention.
And with that, practice ended shortly. Everyone cleaned up the gym, and Y/N walked over to Yamaguchi and Tsukishima. She talked with Yamaguchi about the practice, and Tsukishima as well joined in the conversation. The three walked home after all changing into their uniforms again.
And after Yamaguchi left, Y/N said to Tsukishima, "Kei? Is it okay if I go change real quick first? I'll meet you at the place in maybe half an hour?" He nodded.
"I'll...text you the address?" He slowly said, trying his very hardest not to stammer as he looked into the girl's gleaming eyes.
Y/N grinned widely and agreed, giving him a tight hug which he returned, then hopped back into the house.
Tsukishima let out a heavy breath he didn't know he was holding. Seriously, what does that girl do to me?
A/N:
Yay! More -dere though it's only a little... Y/N is really strange isn't she? Also, foreshadowing is hinted somewhere in the text so be prepared for a dramatic next few chapters.
I just now realized it took me twenty chapters to cover eight episodes of the anime so I'll either end up with a couple hundred chapters or I can start shortening games so we can focus on moving the story along, the timelines are hard to manage ahaha....
If you guys want a huge ton of chapters, great! Or I could do multiple books but that's effort. I'll figure it out soon, most books are almost done by now, so if you are pretty much done with the story then feel free to come back any time!
Confused and bored,
Saishimi💜
