It was already late and Y/N still had to meet up with Iwaizumi in just a half hour. She walked carefully over to Chikara who was still waiting. He was about to scold her for being so late and being just a klutz in general, but he took in her slightly trembling form, and puffed up eyes which he thought were gone at last.
In the end, he just asked, "Do you just want to stay home tomorrow?" And Y/N slowly nodded.
"But I'm meeting Iwaizumi-senpai today... It'll help clear my mind." Y/N didn't even have to finish her question because all Chikara wanted to do was to help her. There was no way he'd let her slip again.
He walked with her to the Sakanoshita Store where Coach Ukai was setting up for his night shift. Seeing the two Ennoshitas, he asked why they were out at this time to which Y/N explained, but of course vaguely.
The coach said it was fine for them to meet up, and he even said since most places were closed that the two could discuss what they needed in the back room. Chikara bought two buns for them to eat, one sweet red bean bun for Y/N and a pork bun for him, then he left.
The Ennoshitas' house wasn't far anyways, so Chikara could always come back with little difficulty.
Y/N didn't have to wait for long, as Iwaizumi showed up in just a few minutes, jogging down the sidewalk.
They sat inside, and Y/N started getting down to what she asked him there for. "Senpai, how long have you been Oikawa-senpai's friend?"
The taller boy thought, mentally counting. "Really early middle school, first year maybe? So around 5-6 years."
Y/N nodded. "And after all that time, what's your impression of Oikawa-senpai?"
Iwaizumi pondered the question deeply. "Well of course the first thing that comes to mind is he's so dramatic and extra it's trashy sometimes."
He looked for her to say something but she just shakily smiled and nodded, asking him to continue as she chewed on her red bean bun. "But I mean it's entertaining to be around. You never really get bored of Oikawa if you choose to stick around him. And he cares for others a lot, so he's die-hard loyal."
But his interviewer had lost focus after the last words her senpai spoke. Of course he took notice at once and was shocked to see the strong looking girl staring into the sweet bun, eyes puffy as she cried softly. "Hey, you okay?"
Y/N couldn't even bring herself to move, she just cried harder. Iwaizumi's older brother type instincts kicked in and he quickly asked if she wanted to go home, to which she shook her head against the idea. "Ch-ch-chika-r-ra c-can't-"
The poor girl was trembling so violently that she couldn't even finish her sentence, but Iwaizumi got the message. "Ano.... Would you like me to call your captain and vice captain?" Y/N again declined, still crying hard.
With a sigh, he said back, "I think the best thing right now would be then for you to come over and have some tea. I can ask Oikawa as well since he knows you a tiny bit more than I do."
Y/N knew that the two weren't close with Kei and thus this wouldn't affect them as much. She nodded once, slowly wiping her face with her sleeve. "H-hai...."
Iwaizumi helped her up and they took their time walking to his place. It was slowly cooling outside, and the walk was pleasantly silent as the only noise was Iwaizumi briefly asking Oikawa to come over to his place. Y/N even texted Chikara a short message saying she'd probably end up staying with Oikawa and Iwaizumi for the night and that there was nothing to worry about.
Soon enough, Iwaizumi's large home welcomed the pair inside as he pulled a large blanket over the shivering girl and brewed some warm tea to calm her anxious nerves.
Oikawa burst in mere moments after Y/N was snuggled in her sad little blanket burrito and ran over to the sniffling girl at once in deep concern.
"Ah! My kawaii little kouhai! Who's name goes first on the death note today, hm?" Oikawa's hair bounced as he fretted over her like a doting parent, to which Iwaizumi smirked slightly at from the kitchen.
Taking a deep breath, Y/N tried clearing her words, but they still came out softly. "It's not that senpai.... It's just this feeling like I've been betrayed. I know it's no more than some stupid highschool romance but I should have known it was too good to be true."
Iwaizumi brought the three cups filled with the steaming drink and set it on the coffee table before them. Oikawa realized at once who she was talking about. "Don't tell me Megane-kun hurt you?!"
Iwaizumi recognized the mention, because there's no reason for Oikawa to refer to Karasuno's other manager with such loathing. "The middle blocker?!"
Y/N sighed, clutching the cup and staring into it's contents. "It's not that, it's just why does it hurt so bad... Sure we were friends but basing our entire relationship on a stupid bet.... Was I really fooled?"
She took a sip and let the burning liquid flow down her esophagus, warming her up inside, though not enough to melt the re-growing ice around her heart yet again. "Was I a fool to believe I could love?"
The nostalgic flavor brought stinging tears back. Peppermint...
The two elder boys sat on either side of her, with a quiet group snuggle. Oikawa protested at once. "We went over this Y/N-chan! You deserve happiness for even considering helping someone which your team hates so much with-"
Y/N covered his mouth at once, and Oikawa realized how he almost slipped there. Removing her hand gently, he smiled. "See?"
Iwaizumi was confused, but he shook his head. "Ennoshita-chan, why don't we play something to binge watch and we'll just sleep on the couch today. We have some ice cream too and feel free to eat as much as you want."
Y/N slightly perked up at the food, and she grabbed the blanket around her. Walking still wrapped in the soft fabric, she opened the freezer and was pleasantly surprised to find that Iwaizumi had the exact flavor and brand she liked the most.
Pulling up Iwaizumi's Netflix, she silently clicked on Ouran High School Host Club.
"I'm in the mood for some Tamaki right now...." She muttered as she and Oikawa dug in together to the ice cream as all three watched the older anime.
Y/N didn't even pay attention to a goodnight text from a certain volleyboy.
A/N:
Sorry if you haven't seen/don't like OHSHC it's a good comfort anime for me personally and I wanted to give a specific anime rather than a vague answer of "her fAvOriTe anime" because 1 it's probably haikyuu and that'd be strange. 2 that's kinda basic so let's add some sPiCe.
I feel like IwaOi are the kind of people who'd be your protective older brothers even if they aren't related to you, so I tried working that in a bit.
Sorry if I seem to be writing too much sad stuff I'm not really at the happiest point right now but I'll hopefully cater wonderful writing to make up for it OwO
If it's late, go sleep! If not, then take a break from reading. Let's have my readers blessed with good health, okay?
