The familiar alarm signalling the morning had arrived rung with the irritating beeping that was sure to give any sane person a major headache. Y/N groaned as she stretched out, emerging from her messy covers.
Reaching over, she quickly hit the "dismiss" button on the alarm and picked up her phone to check notifications. Scrolling through social media stories as she walked to her closet, Y/N thought of something real quick.
Y/N clicked on her texts and pulled up Semi's contact which she had now named "Semi Semi" and shot a simple good morning text. Feeling embarrassed at once, though, she put her phone down and just focused on getting ready. Y/N sweeped her uniform out of the closet and ran to the bathroom for a super-speed shower without getting her hair wet, and changed quickly.
Just as she was putting her phone away, she saw an unopened notification and she opened it at once.
Semi Semi: Ohayo! Have a nice day :)
Y/N quietly fangirled for a few seconds, she still couldn't get over it, and put her phone tucked away in her bag. Chikara had caught it as he emerged from his room and smirked at her. "Ara ara~? Wh-" Y/N shushed him and he laughed. "Okay, got it. Let's go?"
Their walk to school was filled with jokes and laughter, Y/N and Chikara falling back into their old routine. Chikara had even filled her in on what happened when Take-sensei said he was relying on the team to get good scores on their exams to go to the training camp.
Y/N was laughing so hard as he said Tanaka and Nishinoya just went into Buddha mode while Kageyama just stopped breathing. Thankfully he was alright, but Hinata was panicking a bunch as well.
They reached the school, and Y/N was all smiles until Chikara left to go to his class, and that slimy feeling of dread crawled through her stomach. She still had to deal with the whole Kei situation. She stepped into the classroom and a nasty snicker was heard instantly from Suzuki's corner of snakes.
The head bitch herself called to her from the corner, "Oi! Looks like little miss-"
"Oh shut it already Barbie." Y/N glared at her venomously, and Suzuki just laughed.
"But Barbie is pretty, so thanks for the compliment?" Y/N only coughed before spitting out another insult.
"She's also plastic, cheap, and basic. Not to mention low-key creepy." Suzuki was speechless again and Y/N trudged to her spot next to Yamaguchi who whispered a Nice Y/N-chan when she sat down.
Y/N smiled tiredly at him with her eyes closed, then plopped her head right back down on her desk. The green-haired boy worriedly looked at her, then quickly at Tsukishima who was being no help as he was looking out the window while listening to music.
Yamaguchi tapped his shoulder and he pointed to Y/N. After Kei saw her he pulled his headphones off at once and walked around, then crouched down to her level. He tapped her shoulder, and Y/N looked up.
He sighed worriedly. "E-Y/N where were you yesterday? Are you okay?" Y/N flinched visibly away from him and a stabbing cold seemed to pierce right through his heart. "Y/N...?"
Her eyes shone darkly. "We'll talk after classes, I don't want to right now."
Tsukishima stood up slowly and walked back, sliding his headphones back on. Just changing the playlist from Y/N's songs to the first playlist he saw beside it. These all suck....
The class blurred by slowly and painfully, it felt like swimming through honey to both Y/N and Kei. The hostile vibes oozing out of the two felt like a physical material and poor Tadashi was caught in the middle of both ways.
At last, when the break bell rung, waking Y/N up from her half conscious state, Kei stood up and pulled her by the wrist. Seeing her so blatantly ignore him through the morning classes was seriously irritating him.
"Ow! Kei what the heck?!" Y/N glared up at his blond head, and he dropped her arm once they reached at the same tree that Y/N used to eat at in the beginning of the year. Rubbing her wrist she continued fuming.
Tsukishima took a deep breath in, then glared right back at her. "I don't know why you're being so annoying today. Where were you even yesterday, huh?"
Y/N spoke clearly, not backing down. "Not that it has to be any of your business, but I was with Oikawa-senpai and Iwaizumi-senpai. We even went shopping. And I'm really not the one who has to apologize for being what you call annoying." She didn't even know why she added the bit about shopping, maybe to get a rise out of Kei, which it did.
Kei's ears burned red at the mention of the older guys. "Why them?! You don't even know them, so why didn't you call me? I was so worr-"
"Worried? YOU?!" Y/N laughed spitefully. "Why would you have to worry when you don't even like me, Kei." His name was spat out like an insult and it burned both of them.
"W-What? I don't like YOU?! You're the one who's always flirting with Hinata, Kageyama, a bunch of our senpai like Oikawa, even Yam-"
Y/N glowered at him. "Okay, so you're willing to throw your ONLY friend under the bus for this point? If you haven't noticed, even being close to you is getting me hate from that Suzuki girl. And of course you don't like me you made a stupid bet and that's why you're with me."
Kei gasped ever so slightly and seeing his moment of hesitation, Y/N started crying softly. "I was right...."
"Y/N I can explain-" He started at once, only to be cut off.
"No. You were wrong, I like you. Not even that, it's beyond that. アイシテル." (Aishiteru- meaning, I love you. This phrase is extremely rare and even among married couples, it's typically only said a couple of times. It's THAT strong.)
Seeing that he had no response, she shuddered into that broken and weak smile of hers. "At least one of us does then. This looks like the end, Tsukishima-kun. See ya around."
With that she turned and ran into the building, with Kei staring back at her as her blazer fluttered with the movement.
He reached his hand on his face and when he pulled it away, it was drenched.
