Tsundere
Tsundere (ツンデレ) is a Japanese term for a character development process that describes a person who is initially cold (and sometimes even hostile) before gradually showing a warmer, friendlier side over time. The word is derived from the terms tsun tsun (ツンツン), meaning to turn away in disgust, and dere dere (デレデレ) meaning to become 'lovey dovey'.
One moment saltier than the dead sea, the next a cute supportive pillar of light. Just who are you...?
Well two could play that game. Let's see who could fall first, Tsukishima Kei.
True to her word, Y/N got up at 5 on the start of the weekend, tied her hair tightly for practice, and slipped into comfortable exercise clothes.
Jogging to Karasuno's field, Y/N thought to herself about how she could break Tsukishima-kun in a way that could get him to appreciate the people around him that support him so much, or at least limit his excessive saltiness.
Specifically sweet Yamaguchi-kun came to the lithe girl's mind.
To her, trust was rare and the one sidedness of the tall first years' relationship hurt her inside.
After all, she knew what it was like to have her heart shattered into millions of fragments like glass just because the person she loved most mistreated her and she didn't notice until the whiplash slapped her back to reality.
Reaching the field, and seeing it was empty, Y/N checked the time and she huffed seeing that she was fifteen minutes early, as the practice wasn't to start until six.
So she sat down under a tree and pulled out her sketchbook. She flipped through the filled pages containing anatomy sketches, flowers she'd seen in the parks in Tokyo, and animals she'd seen in just her own backyard.
Her eyes landed on an almost finished but incomplete sketch and she continued filling it in. Y/N skimmed over the soft feathers that made up gorgeous unfurled Angel wings, and over each hair that she remembered in place from her two best friends.
At last, she drew the final lines and stared at her piece. There, Kuroo Tetsurou and Kozume Kenma stood, caught in a mid-laugh with feathered wings behind them wide open, Kenma's straight hair falling around his soft face like a halo. Tetsurou's eyes were creased in the special way they did when he smiled genuinely, giving him a bright aura of attraction.
Man, Y/N missed those two idiots.
Sighing, Y/N flipped the cover over the simple sketchbook and pushed it into her bag. As she stood up she was startled by a presence way too close to her and she started to trip backwards before being caught by the boy in front of her.
"Ah, gomen..." Y/N stared into the face parallel to hers, the flush across his face bringing a smile to hers.
"No worries, Kageyama-kun!" The pair pulled themselves upright again and Y/N brushed herself off.
"I noticed you drawing something and you seemed into it very much, so I wanted to see what it was." The tall setter explained. "Are those two close to you?"
"No worries at all! And yeah..." Y/N let out. "Those two are my best friends from middle school, the senpai who taught me volleyball."
Kageyama nodded in memory of her story from the day of the 3-on-3. The setters continued talking about volleyball and schoolwork which, much to Y/N's surprise, Kageyama hated immensely. Soon, Y/N and Kageyama were joined by Hinata with 5 minutes still left before the practice started, so the three began passing around one of the volleyballs brought by Y/N and right at six on the dot, Yamaguchi and Tsukishima arrived.
To start the practice, Y/N had everyone do a sprint down the field and back as warm-up. Then, after stretching, receiving drills were done by having one person hit the ball down and the other receive. Pairing Hinata with Kageyama purposely to give the two more time to try and work on their friendship, Y/N left Yamaguchi and Tsukishima together as well.
Starting with Yamaguchi and Kageyama receiving, Y/N looked at the consistently even form of Kageyama's receives, concentration and contentment reflected off his eyes and she knew instantly there was no reason to worry over his form at the moment. Looking at Hinata she almost laughed out loud at the smaller boy's determined expression with rapidly increasing hits on the ball.
Her gaze landed on the other pair, Yamaguchi and Tsukishima, and she was impressed that as the ball hurtled to the ground, and Yamaguchi's energy was slowly decreasing, he still managed to jump to the ball and hit it up. Walking over, Y/N stood behind Yamaguchi and pressed her hands on his elbows. The olive-eyed boy started to look back at her, but Y/N moved his head back in front, facing his salty friend.
Y/N turned Yamaguchi's arms so that the inside edges faced up and the elbows were locked out. Then, pushing her hands on his waist, she pushed his stance lower.
"Ennoshita-chan?" He questioned at Y/N's sudden touchiness. If it was possible to hear a blush in a voice, then Yamaguchi's voice was scarlet.
Walking away, Y/N simply stated, "Try this, and send the ball back by storing tension in your hips and sending it out through your arms."
Oh, she was nowhere near oblivious to his blush. And she noticed the quick and light flush over his taller friend's pale face as well.
Bring it on.
A/N:
