Chapter 16: The mission

Towards the end of the month I was informed that I was to attend the meeting that was about rescuing Himoko's twin brother. The meeting before we were to do anything was on a Tuesday, so I had to take that day off from working at UA. I woke up that morning a little later in the day since the meeting wasn't until noon. Though I slept in, I woke up at nine; I was hoping for eleven but whatever, at least I got sleep since it seemed like I had been losing it lately. Since Chi had finished his work early again, he was still in bed too. I got out and got ready in my hero costume in a sluggish manner. I was so tired still, yet I couldn't sleep anymore; I tell you, it's quite troublesome. Anyways, I went down to the kitchen afterwards and made myself a late breakfast. It was nothing special, just a fried egg with tea.

While I was at the table, finding things to do on my phone to pass the time, Melody jumped on the table. I laid down my phone, stood up, then walked to where she was standing to pick her up and put her on the floor. As soon as I did that, she jumped back onto the table, then to my shoulder. I let out a sigh as I held her butt while she had her paws over my shoulder. I went back to my seat as she rubbed her face on my ear since I had my hood down. Her purring was so loud, yet comforting at the same time. I held her as I picked up my phone and went back to what I was doing before I had to deal with her.

When it was time for me to leave, Melody had fallen asleep while I held her, so when I put her down on the chair that I was sitting on, she woke up and looked to me with an unsatisfied look. I knew that she was tired and that she wasn't in the mood to eat or even begging for it either, so I didn't feed her; she'll bother Chi when she gets hungry. After that, I went to the door to lace up my boots and put up my hood before I was to teleport to Midoriya's agency. When I arrived, I found myself outside of the agency's front doors. I let out a quick sigh before I opened a door and walked in. I now always liked to arrive early so it wouldn't feel like people were staring at me when I walked in.

As I walked past the front desk, the receptionist stopped what she was doing to say, "Hello, Blank. I take it that you're here for the meeting?"

"Yep, I am." I said as I stopped walking.

"Alright, I'll let Deku know that you're here. The meeting won't start for another ten minutes, so feel free to wait in the conference room if you'd like." she said.

"I will, thank you."

"Have a good day."

"Yeah, you too." I said before I began walking again. I soon found myself at Deku's office that he had. Todoroki was already there since he was going to help with the mission. I knocked on the door before I entered. When I was allowed the permission to enter, I opened the door and walked in with a smile.

"Hello, Blank. You're early." Deku said.

I replied, "Oh you know, I like to get here early so when I walk in, I don't feel like I'm being stared at." I finished as I took a seat on a chair that was in the corner of his office. I looked around as I remembered how nice his office was compared to mine, but I suppose that an underground hero agency has to be a little smaller so villains don't find it so easily.

"It's a good thing that you came here a little earlier. I could tell you what you're going to be doing; it'll save time so we can head out and save Himiko's brother sooner since we're doing that right away." Deku explained.

I looked to him as I said, "Alright, what is it that I'm doing besides being backup like I usually am."

"You're going to be the one who rescues her brother." he started.

'What?' I thought to myself as I raised an eyebrow.

"When we arrive at the residence that the boy is at, officers will arrest the guardians and present that they have a search warrant to find the boy. Since we have never found traces of him before, we have a suspicion that they are hiding him. So, that is where you come in. If we cannot find traces of him out in the open, you'll have to use a quirk to find him." he explained.
