A couple weeks passed and Hakaido was ready to leave the hospital to go live with his sister, Himiko. During that time, the case that I began to help Eri with had gone cold. Though we made some sort of progress, we reached a dead end. Due to that, I took that time to take a week off of working at the agency and UA. I figured that I should take Toshi's advice and take a break. When he told me to do that, I didn't think I really needed it, but as it went on and my mental state kept on getting worse, I settled with withdrawing from most of the things that caused me stress. I mean, I hadn't taken a vacation ever other than what little free time that I was given, plus maternity leave. Luckily during the time that I chose to take time off was slow for both jobs, so I figured that I wouldn't have to make up for anything when I went back.
At the end of the week of the vacation, that Friday Chi and I decided that we were to go to the bar and celebrate. We weren't sure what we were celebrating, but it gave us an excuse to do something that we hadn't gone in a long time. At around five thirty I began to get ready in better clothes rather than the sweatpants and the hoodie that I wore all week.
As I dug through my dresser drawer for a specific pair of jeans, Chi walked next to me and put his arm around me. "What are you looking for?" he asked. He was already changed into a fresh pair of clothes earlier on in the day, so he was now just waiting for me to get ready.
"My black ripped jeans." I said as I pushed jeans out of my way.
"Oh wow, you're shaking it up today, aren't you." he said, sort of surprised.
I paused momentarily to elbow him before I said, "I'm obviously going to use a quirk to hide the scars."
"What shirt are you going to wear?"
"I dunno."
He left my side and went to the closet. He was in there for a couple seconds before he said, "Hey, I found the jeans you were looking for."
I stopped rifling through the drawer and closed it before I walked towards him. "Thanks, hun." I said as I took them. I quickly removed my sweatpants and put on the jeans.
After watching him go through my shirts, he pulled a shirt off a hanger and held it up. "How about this one?" It was a long sleeve grey top with faded flowers of different kinds and colors. It was also a crop top, but since my torso is so short, it's almost a regular shirt for me.
"Works for me." I said just before I removed my hoodie and reached to take the sweater.
Just as I put my hand on the sweater, he grabbed my wrist and turned my arm so it was facing up. "There's fresh scars." he said quietly in a disappointed tone.
I tried to pull my hand back, "It's nothing, just old ones have gotten irritated."
"If they're old ones, then why do they have scabs?"
"I-I've been picking at them." I lied.
He pulled my arm, taking me in his arms. "Please, try and stop."
"I'm trying." I mumbled, "I haven't done it all week."
"Really?" he asked in an excited tone as he pushed me back a little to look me in the eye. I nodded my head without saying anything. He pulled me in again and held me tighter. "I'm so proud of you!" he said happily. He let go of me, allowing me to put on my sweater, "That will be our reason for going out; to celebrate a week without hurting yourself." he said as I finished putting on my sweater.
He then followed me towards the door. "I don't need my purse, right? I have the card in my phone case, so that should be enough."
"That seems fine, I'll be leaving my wallet here."
