Larissa

I sat in a treehouse in the back yard. I heard someone climbing up the ladder and climbing onto a platform that I sat on, dangling my legs over the side. The person sat down next to me.

"So, is this your getaway place?" Michael asked me.

"Lakin calls it my fortress of solitude," I joked.

Michael chuckled. "It's okay to cry," he mentioned.

"Oh, I can't cry. If I cry, then I cry all the time. No one wants to see a weeping mess," I mentioned.

"Larissa," Michael said.

"No, Uncle Michael. I won't cry, and you can't make me," I announced.

Michael looked at me with concern, then I broke. He wrapped his arms around me as I cried like a baby.

"How long have you kept your emotions buried?" Michael asked me.

"I don't want to worry my moms," I sniffled.

"You worry them more if you hide your feelings," Michael reasoned.

I pulled back and wiped my eyes.

"Larissa, watching you struggle and hurt yourself was the most heartbreaking thing for Lakin and Mia. That's why they moved you to a new place. They didn't want you to relapse, especially with the kids at your old school knowing what happened," Michael explained.

"What? That I'm crazy," I said, wiping my face.

"No, that you have issues and seeking help," Michael reasoned.

"The rest of the family doesn't know. Presley saw my scars," I mentioned.

"And what did you say?" Michael asked.

"I told him not to ask. I'm not ready, Uncle Michael," I answered truthfully.

"Not now, but one day, you will. The right person will understand," Michael reasoned.

"I can't wear short sleeve shirts or shorts," I mentioned.

"Not yet, but you will. Larissa doesn't rush it," Michael advised.

That was the thing about Uncle Michael. He didn't push me but understood. I spent many nights on the phone with him. It helped, but I knew I would have to tell people eventually. I wasn't ready.

I walked into the house and strolled into the kitchen to get bombarded with questions about my visit with Mariana. I stood there as Gavin and Ty fired question after question at me. I waited until they finished.

"Are you done?" I asked.

"Your life interests us," Ty mentioned anxiously.

Gavin and I looked at Ty curiously.

"I mean, we worry about your safety and happiness. You're not leaving us, are you? Please tell me that you're not leaving us," Ty begged.

"I wasn't planning on it until college. I planned to spend time with Mariana, but that's the extent. Why?" I questioned.

"Well, because you're our baby boy, who we wanted. You're always wanted. We never want you to think that you aren't. You don't think that, do you?" Ty asked anxiously.

"No," I said with confusion.

"Excuse me, I need a moment," Ty said, leaving the kitchen.

"What was that?" I asked Gavin, confused with Ty's behavior.
