Casey

People say after you graduate, you should celebrate. I celebrated by sleeping in the next day. That didn't last long.

"Why the hell are you still sleeping?" Gavin yelled.

"It's summer break, and I graduated. I deserve it," I mumbled.

"No, it's ten in the morning. Get up," Gavin ordered.

I groaned and rubbed my face. I sat up and looked at Gavin with my hair a mess. Ty entered my room and laughed. I didn't need this shit.

"By the way, happy birthday," Gavin said.

I arched an eyebrow. My dad woke me up to yell at me then wish me a happy birthday. I laid backward, falling back to sleep.

An hour later, someone jumped on me. I opened my eyes, then closed them. My eyes popped open. I screamed, Brandon screamed, and I threw him off my bed as he hit the floor with a thud.

Gavin and Ty ran up to my room to see the commotion. They found me on the bed and Brandon on the floor.

"At least it's not Larissa," Gavin said as Ty nodded. They left as I leaned over and looked at Brandon.

"What the hell, man?" I exclaimed.

"I came to get you to hit the beach. I didn't think you would freak out like that," Brandon mentioned, getting off of the floor.

"Then don't flip jump on me," I huffed, getting out of bed.

"Yo! O' Neill!" Someone yelled.

Brandon and I stuck our heads out of my window as we saw Larissa and the others standing in my driveway.

"Brandon, meet crazy," I said, making Brandon chuckle.

"Are you coming or what?" Larissa yelled.

"Yeah, give me a minute!" I yelled back.

We pulled our heads in, knocking them together. We rubbed our heads as I shoved Brandon out of my bedroom. I changed clothes and left, making my way downstairs.

"Bye, dads!" I yelled, leaving the house as Gavin and Ty stuck their heads out of the kitchen.

I jumped into Brandon's car with Larissa and Andi while Marta rode with Cody and Coop. You can't beat sleeping in late and hitting the beach with your friends. Summer would be a blast.

We spent the summer hanging out and celebrating Casey and my birthday. It wasn't bad since everyone was at home. Plus, I got to spend time with Cody.

Like most summers, they come to an end, which meant packing for school. I packed my stuff and boxed it up. After I finished packing, I looked in my bedroom.

"Did you finished packing?" Dad asked.

I cleared my throat. "Yeah, I didn't think it would feel this hard," I whispered.

Dad walked into the bedroom as I stood there. I looked at my dad. He held out his arms, and I hugged him. He hugged me back.

"No matter what happened this year, your mom and I are so proud of you," Dad said as I hugged him tighter.

We let go of each other, and Dad helped me carry stuff down to the car. We loaded the car as Andi brought stuff and packed it. We got into the car as Mom climbed into the front seat. Dad closed the trunk and got into the driver's side. He pulled out of the driveway as we left for school.

I didn't know what to expect the next fours, but if I had my sister and friends with me, I would be okay. It was a new chapter of my life.

We arrived on campus. I looked out of the window as we passed houses and the school. Ma pulled into a driveway and parked. We got out of the car and grabbed some stuff, carrying it into the house.

I heard footsteps and saw Casey running down the stairs. I smiled as he ran over to me. He picked me up and spun me around as I laughed.

Gavin and Ty came downstairs as more people arrived.

"I get the second bedroom," Marta claimed.

"We get the first bedroom," Andi said, going upstairs.

"Ah, it's good to be back at the nuthouse," Cody mentioned, walking past of us.

I laughed as the parents helped us get settled. We all hugged them, and they left.

"Since you aren't familiar with the campus, we'll show you the best places to eat," Brandon mentioned.

We left to get some food. I think I will enjoy my college life. Casey and I held hands as we walked while everyone talked. Sometimes you have to step out of the shadows of your family to become your person. I love my family, but it was my time.

I don't know what happened, but college was a blur. It was like the past four years flew. Presley suffered through the loss of his girlfriend of Eliza. We went to the funeral. The guy isn't a bad guy, but I was glad he met someone that made him happy. I couldn't imagine losing Larissa.

Brandon, Andi, and Marta graduated. Brandon and Andi got married. I got to be the best man which was cool. It was good to see them happy.

Marta married a girl she was dating, and they adopted a daughter. She still harasses me, but I enjoy being an uncle.

Coop and Cody decided marriage or kids weren't for them and traveled. I didn't blame them. Why do something that you don't want? No one says that you have to follow the crowd.

As for Larissa and me, we stay together, and I made her my wife. I mean, if we could deal with each other and remain sane, why not?

We found an apartment to save money until we could find a house for us. Eventually, we would have kids, but I was good at waiting.

I flipped through movies, looking for something when Larissa's phone rang. She answered it.

"Hello?" She said.

I sat there and looked at Larissa. She spoke to someone and smiled. She hung up and looked at me.

"There's a house for sale, and the person said it's perfect for us," Larissa said, grinning.

I smiled as we settled in and watched a movie. Mack rubbed off on us as we yelled at the screen. What can I say? We all need some batshit crazy in our lives.
