Coop

My parents kept me home from school for a week. I had to get a cast for my arm in a few days once the swelling went down. I sat on my bed, working on homework.

I heard a knock at my bedroom door. I looked up at Dad. "Your uncles and Casey are here," Dad mentioned.

"I don't want to see anyone," I told Dad.

"They wanted to check on you," Dad reasoned.

"Tell them the truth. I trusted the wrong person and got hurt," I said, glancing at Dad.

"Okay," Dad said, leaving my room. I didn't want to see anyone. My family would want to hug me, and I didn't want anyone touching me.

Andrew came downstairs and told us that Coop didn't want to see anyone. I ignored Andrew and went to see Coop. I knocked and opened the door to see Coop sitting on his bed. He looked up at me. I strolled into the bedroom, grabbed a chair, and sat down with the back of the chair facing Coop.

"Well, you look a little less for wear," I mentioned.

"What do you want, Casey?" Coop asked me.

"I came to see if wanted to hang out since you avoided me," I answered.

Coop gave me an unamused look. I pushed his buttons further because that's me. I blame Gavin's genes.

"Oh, that's right, you rather hang with a fish who doesn't give a shit about you," I remarked, smiling.

Coop glared at me.

"Wait. You prefer to hang out with someone who uses you as a punching bag," I goaded Coop.

Andrew tried to come into the room, but Gavin stopped him. Coop got to his feet as I got to mine.

"I'm going to beat the hell out of you!" Coop yelled.

"Bring it on!" I yelled, gesturing towards me.

Coop looked at me, frowning. I walked towards him. "What? Can't you fight back?" I asked.

"No," Coop mumbled.

"Why not?" I asked, getting into Coop's face. "Why? Huh? Why? Hit me. Come on, hit me," I ordered.

I watched Coop's bottom lip quiver. "Because I can't," Coop whispered, not looking at me.

"Why not?" I questioned.

"Because I'm afraid, okay?" Coop yelled, surprising Andrew, but Gavin and me. "I didn't think anything frightened me until Trent twisted everything. How does someone do that?"

"Because the person hides their true nature. Trout was good at manipulating you," I commented.

Coop chuckled at the nickname that I gave that douche. I knew he would understand the reference. Coop walked over and sat down on his bed. I joined him.

"Feel better?" I asked.

"A little," Coop said.

"Trout is a douche," I commented.

"Yeah, but I'm stupid for listening to him," Coop said, sighing.

"We all have our moments. I kissed Larissa," I mentioned.

Coop looked at me with surprise. Gavin came into the bedroom. "You kissed Larissa?" He asked me.

Well, shit, I forgot Gavin was here.

"Uh," I said, trying to find words.

"How was it? Was it nice? Were you a gentleman?" Gavin asked.
