When you make things official with your significant other, another topic comes up. I'm talking about sex and the fact that Coop and I are clueless. Neither of us knows anything about sex or what to do. It's not like anyone handed us a book and explained it. Okay, that's a lie. Let me explain.
Andrew and Gavin decided to have the talk with Coop and me about sex. It's not my favorite topic with my dad. They also decided to tag team and talk to us together. Kill me now.
We sat in Mack's living room so our fathers could talk to us on neutral ground. I'm not sure if having the sex talk at Mack's house is a good thing or even neutral. Coop and I sat on the couch as our fathers stood in front of us.
"Okay, now that both of you are in a relationship, we need to talk about sex," Gavin told us.
We groaned. Kill us now, please. Put me out of my misery.
"Sex is a natural thing," Andrew reasoned.
"And fun," Gavin added.
Andrew looked at Gavin incredulously as Gavin looked at him.
"What? It is," Gavin reasoned.
Andrew rolled his eyes. "Anyway, sex is an enormous responsibility," he told us.
"Sex can result in pregnancy," Gavin mentioned.
"I don't think that's an issue with me," Coop countered.
"Not you, him," Gavin said, pointing at me.
I put my palm on my face and shook my head.
"No, but you can get an STD," Andrew added.
"It's difficult when you never had sex," Coop mentioned.
"But Cody has, I think," Gavin said.
Ugh, please kill me. Someone put me out of my damn misery. Why is it when you get into a relationship your parents need to have this talk? Couldn't they throw the book at us or, better yet, porn?
"We know guys have urges, and those lead to passionate moments, then one day, you wake up regretting the entire ordeal," Andrew said.
"Yeah, like when a hot guy tells you that he wants to see what it feels like and changes his mind," Gavin added.
Andrew looked at Gavin. "Did that happen in high school?" He asked.
"Yeah, not one of my better moments," Gavin answered.
"Now, if you do have it, you need many condoms because you want it all the time," Andrew told us.
"After the initial awkwardness," Gavin added.
I sat there, looking at my dad and uncle like they were king size morons. This sex talk is the worst talk I ever had with someone.
"Christ, you both suck at this," Mack announced.
We looked to see Mack standing there, shaking his head. "Just throw the book at them and let them be on their merry way."
"We want them to be safe," Andrew reasoned.
"Oh, like you were safe with my daughter on your ski trip, which I still want to hurt you," Mack told Andrew.
"Wait. You knew?" Andrew asked.
"Yes, I knew. Do you think I'm stupid?" Mack asked.
"It seems like it," I answered, earning a look from everyone. I shrugged.
