Let It Burn- Chapter Twenty Nine
The gurney sped through the empty halls. "Please, can I see Dan. He's the only thing I care about." Phil tried sitting up only to be pushed back down. "Not now sir." Phil nodded biting his lip as he turned his head back to look at Dan's pale fragile body bouncing wildly on the gurney behind him. "When can I see him?" Phil asked urgently "let us check you out for any injuries and then we'll let you see him." Phil nodded "thank you!" He cried out letting out the heavy breath that was weighing him down.
After the examination with a doctor Phil got released to leave and visit Dan. He walked into the room slowly hearing the mild beeps that came from the monitor. He frowned as he made his way over to Dan's sleeping figure. He pressed an airy kiss on Dan's forehead. "I am so sorry Dan, I just wanted to help and I pushed you. It was my fault for blowing up on you. I never meant it. I just really want to see you be able to laugh. And smile. I want to step forward and ask your opinion before using mine. I love you a lot Dan I have since 2010. We've been through a lot together. The drinking, drunk kisses in a dirty bathroom. Kisses in the dark. Little affirmations to each other. I want to keep that going. I want you to be able to come out of the void and have the courage to exist, Dan." Phil held his hand in Dan's as he looked out at the walls. "It's funny the amount of times we've been here whether it was to visit one another or something else. The walls are so plain and they really plunge you deep into thought." Dan tapped on Phil's hand lightly. Phil jumped back "Dan!" He exclaimed watching as Dan opened his chestnut eyes. He moved his arms in the air. He made a marker and board from his hands. Phil held up a finger searching the room coming across the items in the desk that sat to the right of Dan's bed. Phil nodded handing over the marker and board. Dan threw the cap to the side and jotted something down.
'Thank you for not giving up on me when I did that myself'
Phil nodded as tears glosses his eyesight "no problem"
Dan moved his arm swiping it across the board 'I love you. Maybe more than I love myself. But God Phil you are so great to have in my life. When the times were dark. You became the light.' Dan held up the board showing it to Phil. Phil squeezed Dan's hand lightly "thank you" he giggled.
