Chapter nineteen

Things had been extremely hectic since that night Rose attacked her in the park. Later that very night Rose died in Damon's arms, and he replaced her with a newscaster almost instantly. Maddie knew her brother was devastated by her death but would never admit it, he wanted to be the bad brother. Jenna had broken up with Ric after he wouldn't tell her what was going on and John Gilbert came into town long with Isobel Elena's birth mother who ultimately killed herself in front of Elena. The same night she'd been attacked she had no idea how exactly she got home but she could only assume it was William, he must have healed her as well because the girl woke up in her own bed with not even a mark on her neck. That same night Stefan had called to tell her that they had officially killed Elijah and Klaus was next. They knew that he was in town by now and decided to go to the decade dance to set him up, Bonnie would trap him and kill him. It was all too much for her to handle, so much death and blood. She missed the days where people weren't constantly dying, and there wasn't an original vampire trying to sacrifice her. But Maddie knew that if she freaked out it would only make things worse for the rest of them. Things had been to crazy that the girl hadn't even figured out who would escort her to the dance, everyone else had their dates, and Damon and Ric were going to be chaperoning. As the group enters the dance she smiles at the decorations and costumes the students all had on, she was going to try and have fun as long as she could. Rather than sticking around with the rest she bid her brother and Ric goodbye before walking onto the dance floor, she began dancing along to the music without a care in the world. She had no idea how much time had passed when a pair of arms wrap around her waist she turns to see William standing in front of her with a smirk.

"may I have this dance?"

"yes, but only because you saved me the other day"

"well like I said its my job"

"so you know Klaus is here?"

"I assumed" he responds quickly scanning the room before turning his attention back to the girl, his goal was to keep her hidden as best he could from the man

"we're planning on killing him tonight" the girl whispers, he looks down at her in shock

"we should leave before that happens"

"why?"

"because I can't have you getting hurt"

"because Klaus would get upset? well guess what he's dying tonight"

"no because I could never live with myself if something happened to you" he replies pulling her closer as a slow song begins to play

"this one goes out to Elena from Klaus" the announcer calls out, the girl instantly gasps and looks around for anyone who didn't fit in. Her eyes find Alaric's and she tries to break out of Williams's embrace to go talk to him when the man holds her back.

"if he's here then you can't leave my side do you understand me?"

"ok" she agrees

"I'm going to get you out of here right now and we're going to go someplace safe, you need to tell somebody you're going home because you don't feel good and I'll be waiting by the doors" She nods at his words and does as told, she walks over to the first person she could find and grabs Alaric's arm pulling him away from the people.

"Ric I'm not really feeling well I think I'm gonna go home would you mind telling my brothers?"

"sure Maddie I'll tell them, hey before you go tell me who was that guy you were dancing with? Haven't seen him before"
