Chapter Thirty

"I see you've got a shiner on your face" Klaus comments breaking the silence between the two

"uh yeah its fine though it doesn't hurt" 

"I am sorry about that, I wasn't intending on hurting you" he replies sincerely

"Its ok" she reassures causing him to smile slightly 

"I cannot seem to get things right with you can I?" 

"what do you mean?"" she asks 

"I've done nothing but hurt you and you have yet to show me anything but kindness, you've stayed with me the whole summer" 

"I don't think I have much of a choice" 

"yes but you haven't tried to kill me" he points out

"Is that something your friends do?" 

"are you calling yourself my friend love?" 

"I mean I'm never gonna be able to forgive you for what you did but I understand you and to a certain level I respect you" she states 

"what do you mean by that?"

"I understand why you're doing all of this, why it means so much to you"

"enlighten me" he replies 

"you just want a family" 

"Indeed, how did you know all of that?"

"while everyone else is talking I've always been the one to sit back and observe and listen. I like to understand those around me" she states 

"ah Maddie with each passing day you remind me of myself when I was younger before I experienced real power. I can show you that feeling just say the word" 

"If you want to turn me into a vampire my answer is no" she responds causing him to frown

"why not may I ask?"

"vampires have done nothing but destroy my life, so forgive me for wanting to be normal" 

"I think you've long passed normal love" Klaus states causing her to smile slightly

"I found it" Gloria states as the three vampires and humans stare at her 

"so where is it?" Rebekah demands

"It doesn't work like that doll, I get images. there's a girl with her friends-"

"yes a dead girl with dead friends if I don't get my necklace back"

"well I have to dive back in and get the details"

"so dive" Klaus replies 

"I need time and space, you're hurting my juju"

"we can wait"

"I'm sure you can but thats not what I asked" Gloria replies 

"why don't we just come back later, I'm hungry" Stefan states pulling his friend out of the room allowing the witch to do her job. When they arrive back at the storage room Maddie stands in the corner with her arms crossed she tries to keep herself from throwing up. She had tried her best to ignore the three vampires while they ate their meals but it was sickening. Though she was starving she could not bring herself to eat after seeing such ruthless killing from even her own blood. It had been nearly three days since she'd eaten anything and she was beginning to feel sick, yet the very thought of food made her want to spill her guts. 

"my girls dead I'm bored" Rebekah complains 

"you weren't kidding about being hungry" 

"Its been a long day" Stefan shrugs 

"try being related to her" Klaus says gesturing at his sister 

"you're being mean, and why are you being mean you used to love me?" 

"Its been 90 years Rebekah give him a break" 

"why are you taking his side?" 

"because my dear sister I give pity to any man who doesn't give you what you want"

"will you stop making me out to be a brat, I am not a brat!"

"a 1000 years of life experience says otherwise" Klaus retorts 

"you're no picnic either, I've only spent one summer with you and I feel like I wanna blow my head off" Stefan intervenes causing the two girls to giggle at his words 

"where is he going?" Rebekah asks 

"to write a name on a wall" Maddie responds in disgust, she knew that he hated it as much as she did. She honestly felt for her brother and wished she could help him from his downward spiral but with Klaus watching there was nothing she could do. The girl goes to move out of the room and away from the blood and dead bodies when an intense dizzy feeling takes over and she grips her head trying to center herself.

"whats wrong?" Rebekah asks 

"I don't feel good" 

"you should sit down" Klaus suggests, the girl nods and moves over to where the originals were sitting when suddenly her body gives out and she falls into darkness.

When Maddie awoke she had no idea where she was nor what was going on. She found herself in a moving truck with Klaus sitting in front of her and her brother with his neck snapped a few feet away. When Klaus notices her he smiles slightly and stands to his feet and dropping a bag in front of her. She opens it and sees a sandwich and chips for her and stares at him in confusion as her head pounds like she was being hit with a hammer. "what is going on Klaus?"

"well it seems that you've both been lying"

"what?" she asks 

"I know about Elena, now eat up I wouldn't want you to pass out again the show is going to start" he states as the truck comes to a halt. he then walks over to Stefan and kicks his shoe a few times watching as he shoots up in confusion. 

"just give me a chance to explain myself ok?" Stefan asks holding his hand up

"no need I'm not mad I'm just curious. Rebekah seems to think you're holding onto something, your old life. The thing is she's got incredible instincts borderline supernatural so I thought I would check it out and see for myself what you've been hiding" he replies before walking over to the door and opening it, both Salvatore's cover their eyes as the bright sun blinds them. As her eyes focus Maddie's heart stops as she takes in the familiar town she hadn't seen since Klaus forced them to leave.
