Austin's POV

I cleared my throat and fixed my shirt as I walked over to Sophie's parents. I paused momentarily looking over at Sophie warmly hugging my Dad and Step-mom, smiles on all of their faces. I knew they would love her, who wouldn't love her.

I took a deep breath as I walked up to them, words nervously drifting from my mouth.

"Good morning Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds" I said nervously.

"Good morning Austin, it's nice to finally meet you" her Mom said standing up and giving me a warm hug. I could see where Sophie got her kindness from.

I looked over at her Dad who was eyeing me suspiciously before holding out his hand. I shook it tightly trying to show my confidence but it wasn't quite as tight as his.

"Nice to meet you" he said flatly.

"Same to you sir, and you to ma'am" I said to both of them with a smile. I noticed her Dad tilt his head at my titles of respect. I wasn't trying to butter them up, that's just how I was raised.

"So are you happy with Sophie? Is she the girl you had thought?" her mom asked me.

"I'm very happy with Sophie. She has such a kind heart and a beautiful soul. You did a great job raising an amazing person Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds" I said with a smile.

"I'm glad you approve of our parenting skills" her Dad said coldly.

I was left speechless as I nervously ran my palms on my jeans. Thankful her Mom came in to save me.

"She seems very happy with you Austin. I haven't seen her smile so much in months. You really brought the joy back to her I can see it" her Mom smiled.

"She did the same thing for me Mrs. Reynolds. Everyone gets the assumption just because I'm a celebrity I'm extremely happy, but that's far from the truth. I love what I do, I honestly do but I'd love what I do even more if I got to share it with someone by my side" I said with a smile.

"And what exactly is your job?" her Dad asked raising an eyebrow as he sat back in his chair.

"I'm a singer sir" I said.

"By the looks of it I'd say for some  heavy metal band" he said his eyes roaming my face.

"Uh no sir, I'm a solo artist. Rap mostly but I'm not afraid to play other things" I said clearing my throat.

"Your lifestyle has to be pretty intense. I'm assuming lots of drinking, drugs, beautiful girls around you all the time."

"Uhm well sometimes yes" I said rubbing the back of my neck.

"And how are you going to convince me that you won't take my daughter down that path getting her involved in drugs, drinking heavily, cheating on her when your under the influence."

"Sir I would never do that to her, any of that. I understand the fear is more prominent given my lifestyle, but no disrespect sir...would you still ask me that question if I wasn't a celebrity?" I asked him suddenly regretting my ballsy question.

He sat and thought about it for a moment before he looked up at me.

"No I suppose I wouldn't because it wouldn't cross my mind" he said.

"I am just a normal guy, I like to sit at my house when I'm not working and enjoy my surroundings. I like to play video games and watch horror movies. I like to go to the range and shoot my guns and ride my quads in the mountains. I'm not all Post Malone all the time, sir." I said quickly.
