I stood in the doorway of my house, looking around one last time to make sure I had everything that I needed. I pulled my cell phone out of my pocket as I quickly sent a text to my parents asking them if they would come stay at the house on the weekends just so the neighbors thought it was still being lived in, and sending out a text to Lauren letting her know that we were going to need a girls get together as soon as possible, because I had a lot to talk about. To my relief both parties agreed to my texts as I let out a deep breath, closing the door on my temporary past as I walked towards my temporary future who was standing with his hands in his pockets, his legs slightly spread and a smile on his face as he was waiting for me to make my descent down the stairs.
Everything about the way he looked in that moment sent shivers down my spine as it was the same exact look he gave me when I walked down the aisle to meet him. My heart raced a million miles a minute as my mind was trying to formulate what life would actually be like with him after that day. The same emotion, the same reaction all flooding into me at this moment as I walked up to him. "You ready baby girl?" he asked, his eyes looking down into mine, a small smile taking up his face.
"As I'll ever be" I laughed, standing up on my tiptoes to place a delicate kiss on his lips, his hands coming out of his pockets as he wrapped them around my lower back tightly, my feet leaving the ground just slightly.
"Not getting cold feet are you?" he laughed, still holding me up to be even with him as I let out a small laugh, my feet gently being placed back on the ground as we walked hand in hand to the passenger side of the truck, his right hand reaching out and swinging the door open as I stood in the vacant space.
I let out a sigh, giving my lips a quick lick as I looked at him. "No Austin" I said rolling my eyes. "You know what I mean and I don't want to talk about it anymore today. I just want to sit in your room, eat my weight in sushi and watch a disgusting rom com and go to sleep so we can start a new day" I said, flashing him my dazzling white smile.
"I think you're forgetting one thing baby girl" he said, his fingers coming up and grazing my jawline just slightly, his eyes dancing over every inch of me with pure hunger.
I reached up, grabbing his right hand with my left, looking deeply into his eyes. "Oh yeah and what's that?" I asked with a smirk.
"You'll see" he retorted, grabbing my right hand as he helped me climb into the truck. He closed the door behind him with a thud as my mind started to race. Was this relationship all about sex for him? I mean, that is when we seemed to get along the best. During, well of course, and for several hours afterwards. And, we did have sex like crazy on the trip. As a matter of fact I feel like that is what each day was made of.
Biting my lip, I tried to clear the thoughts from my head. He did tell me that he loved me for more reasons than sex. I was just over thinking things with everything that happened today. I mean we were a healthy couple, a very healthy couple. Intimacy was a huge part in making any relationship work and I for sure was not holding out on him in the slightest, that was for damn sure.
I vaguely heard Austin get into the truck, the sounds sounding like they were at a far off distant place when I snapped back to reality to see him looking at me with a concerned look on his face. "Hey Soph are you okay baby?" he asked me. I looked over at him, my eyes still clouded and my head still feeling like it was off in some distant land as I slowly nodded yes, only for it to be completely unconvincing.
"Are you sure you want to move into my house Sophie. We really can stay here at your place. It would be completely okay with me" he said, grabbing both of my hands in his, his eyes looking me over cautiously knowing that something was brewing behind my eyes.
