Chapter 14

We finished our lunch, the both of us ignoring the fact that I almost let those three words drip like warm honey from my lips after his understanding demeanor to my awful past. He paid the bill as he helped me up from my chair pulling me in close to him, placing a sweet kiss on my lips. I pulled away from him slowly as we got lost in each other eyes, no words needing to be spoken as we smiled lovingly at each other.

We headed out of the restaurant towards the crowded street when two younger girls approached Austin.

"Mi scusi, ma possiamo avere una foto?" the one girl asked excitedly.

He looked over at me and I let out a small laugh.

"They want a picture with you" I laughed.

"Sure," he said as he walked up to them smiling.

The girl handed me her phone as she over excitedly walked towards Austin with her friend. He stood in between them putting both of his hands up with a peace sign, a shy smile on his face. Both of the girls gave him a hug as they walked over towards me to get their phone.

"Grazie mille! Sei la ragazza di Post, giusto?" she said kindly to me.

"Moglie, ma si" I laughed.

"Sei cosi bella e gentile."

"E fortunato!"

Both of the girls gave me a hug before walking away, Austin walking over to me slowly and linking his fingers with mine.

"So... what did they say" he said chuckling.

"Oh they just thanked me and asked if I was your girlfriend. I told them wife but yes. They said I was very beautiful, kind and lucky and then they left" I said smiling up at him.

"Well they are correct. See I'm not the only one who sees it" he said looking down at me with a smile.

"Thank you baby" I said smiling up at him.

We walked a little way down the street when a gelato shop caught my eye. I turned myself so I was still holding Austin's hand, but now standing in front of him slowly walking backwards, a child-like grin on my face.

"Oh my God can we pleeeaassee" I said giving him my best pout.

"Can we please what?" he asked with a chuckle putting a hand on my lower back so I wouldn't fall as I looked up at him.

"Gelato" I said looking over my shoulder.

"Yes baby of course" he said as I turned away from him and started dragging him over to the gelato shop.

"Can we share? I can't eat one on my own" I laughed.

"Are you serious Soph? Your this excited over something you can't even finish on your own?" he laughed.

"Well yeah, plus it'll be cute" I said with a playful pout.

"Your lucky your cute" he said giving my ass a playful slap as we walked up to the counter.

I ordered our cone and stepped back against him as I waited for it to be done, my mouth watering the entire time. The gentlemen handed it to me as I gave him the money telling him to keep the change. He granted me a strange look as I quickly remembered that wasn't a common act in Europe.

"So what did we get" Austin asked as we walked to a table out on the sidewalk.

"Something like chocolate ganache and egg cream in a waffle cone filled with liquid chocolate and everything sprinkled with hazelnut sprinkles" I said smiling at him.
