"Morning," Ruthy yawned. I avert my eyes immediately as the t-shirt she borrowed rode up a little.

"Morning," I laugh and pat the sofa next to me.

"Care to join me?" Ruthy gives me a playful smile, and I can tell she's up to something when she starts walking towards me slowly. I narrow my eyes at her, and right before I say something, she grabs the tv remote and sprints into the kitchen. I immediately chase after her.

"Dammit, Pearce! You're to fast," I curse; Ruthy, on the other hand, throws her head back, laughing loud and confidently. She raised an eyebrow at me.

"Hey, it's fine, it would be more fun if you could keep up," she challenged. She made a break for the door. I move as fast as I can around the counter and grab her by the waist, hoisting her up onto my shoulder. She starts laughing and punching my back as I carry her back through to the living room.

"Say sorry, Pearce," I chuckled.

"Never!" She cried dramatically, and I nearly died from laughter. Eventually, I put her down. Once I do, it felt as if time stopped. My hands are still on her waist as I stare into her eyes. I'd never noticed how beautiful they were, how bright and brown they were like a shiny chunk of copper. Ruthy blinks and cleared her throat, shaking her head.

"Uhm....let's watch something, yeah?" Ruthy suggested, her voice a little higher than usual. I nod and hand her the remote.

"You choose something. I'm gonna make us something to eat." She smiled gratefully and plopped down, her attention shifting to the tv. I walk into the kitchen, and quilt overcomes me. What the fuck? Did Ruthy and I just have a moment? I tried so hard to shake it off while I was cooking us something,

"Danny, your phone keeps going off." Ruthy appeared at the doorway, her hair in a messy ponytail. I nod and take it from her.

"Hello?" I rasp, clearing my throat.

"D-Danny?" It's Kirsten. It sounds like she's been crying.

"Kirsten? Is everything okay?" I ask immediately, my stomach flipping with anxiety.

"You tell me." I hear her sniffing on the other end of the phone, and then I know she's been crying. Kirsten cries silently, but I know her.

"What do you mean? What happened?" I asked, slightly confused. But now, more than anything, I feel guilty because of mine and Ruthy's moment.

"You and Ruthy." Oh god. That's the one response I wasn't expecting to hear.

"What's she saying?" Ruthy asked. Her eyes gave away that she was clearly worried about what Kirsten was saying too.

"She slept at yours?" Kirsten asked in horror, and my eyes widen immediately.

"No, no, no, no Kirsten it's not what you thi-"

"Leave it, Danny!" And she hangs up. Just like that. I look over to Ruthy to see her frowning. I think she knows now.

"I should....I'm gonna try phoning Kyra to see what's going on," Ruthy said and disappears up the stairs. I sigh and sink into a chair, placing my phone on the counter. How could Kirsten get the wrong idea? Or did she have the right idea? Did she see that moment with Ruthy and I coming? My phone rings again, and I know that it's Ezra.

"Hi," I answered, completely deflated.

"Mate, you need to look at Twitter!" It sounds pretty urgent.

"Why?"

"You and Ruthy went out last night? Well, it's blown up big time! People are going crazy because they think she's your firsts girlfriend since Kendall!" This situation really couldn't get any worse. I looked on twitter to see what Ezra was talking about.

Danny'snumba1: OMG!!!!!! How cute do they look together? So glad that Danny has moved on to someone so sweet

RuthyXO: What happened to Seth? Did they break up?

Danny&Ruthy: They look so good together!!!!!! I'm crying!!!!

XKirsty: Okay, he betta know that Kirsty's real though

Danny'sBiggestStan: I always thought he and Kirsten would end up together honestly. But this is cute.

I sighed and went back to my phone call with Ezra.

"I don't know what to do?" I sighed.

"Well, just tell Kirsten the truth. Nothing is going on between you and Ruthy, right?"

Honestly, before this morning, I would have said absolutely not! Like no way in a million years! She's one of my closest friends. But now everything feels different. That one moment sparked everything within me. I mean, it was nothing like the first time I met Kirsten, but it was different. A good kinda different.

"Silence is not a good sign," I heard Ezra chuckle, which kinda made my stomach drop.

"I honestly don't know." This was all so messed up.

"I'm gonna come over. So don't do anything stupid." I just agreed with him and hung up the phone. A few moments later, Ruthy appeared again, this time, fully dressed.

"I'm gonna go meet the girls. I need to set things straight." She can't even look at me when she's speaking, and it's breaking my heart.

"Ru," I say and stand up, making her eyes dart to meet with mine so she can keep me at a reasonable distance.

"Set what straight? I'm honestly even more confused now." I said, trying to be completely honest with her, and she nodded.

"Me too." It comes out as a whisper, and that's how I know it's true because she feels just as guilty as I do.

"But Kirsten's my best friend, Dan." She shakes her head.

"I know," I frown and run a hand through my hair.

"So, what do we do?"
