"Hey, Roman?"
"What do you want, Re?" Roman growled.
"Aren't you going to Virgil's?"
"Yeah. I'm going to meet his parents. Why?"
Remus grinned and tapped his wrist. Roman rolled his eyes and closed the door behind him.
Roman found he couldn't really breath very well. Virgil looked up at him and slipped his hand into Roman's.
"You're going to be fine. Mum and dad are pretty chill. Well... most of the time." Virgil's brow furrowed
"Most of the time?" Roman's voice was unusually high.
"It's nothing. Just something about a classmate back in '89. She died, suicide, but it was an odd death. Just some questioning."
"Right. Okay. Um, can-"
"Virgy, who's this?"
Virgil and Roman looked around for the source of the voice. Issac was standing on the stairs, looking at Roman. Then, he jumped up and down a little.
"You're the one who Virgy was scary to, weren't you?" He looked at Virgil and Roman's intertwined hands, confounded. "Why're you holding hands?"
"Um, Issac, this is my boyfriend. Roman. Please don't... judge him too much."
"Yeah." A female voice from behind the two boys said. "That's my job."
Virgil whipped around, not letting go of Roman's hand and spinning him around as well. "Oh. Hi mum."
A woman with short, dark brown hair and dark eyes smiled at Roman. "Veronica." She said, holding her hand out to Roman. "I'm Virgil's mother."
"Um, Roman." Roman said, shaking Veronica's hand and trying to find where the 'Roman Charm' had disappeared to. Virgil seemed to sense Roman's discomfort and squeezed his hand tightly. He received a faint squeeze back.
"Mum, shouldn't Roman meet dad now?"
"Wait!" Issac yelled, running back down the stairs, clutching a little sketchbook. "Mummy, can I show Dada my drawings?"
"Sure." Veronica led the three boys into the living room, where a man with black hair and grey eyes was sitting, reading a book.
"Hi dad." Even Virgil was a little nervous. "This is my boyfriend, Roman."
The man looked up and surveyed Roman without a smile, or even a ghost of one, on his face.
"Do you intend to hurt my son?" He asked, standing up and discarding the book.
"Why don't you introduce yourself first, dad?" Virgil asked, rolling his eyes.
"Fine. I'm Jason." He dusted down his black coat. "Now, back to the question. Do you intend to hurt Virgil?"
"No." Roman said hurriedly. Jason glared at Roman, making him shrink into himself.
"Dad, you're scaring him."
"Good."
Veronica sighed. "Sorry about my husband. We just don't want Virgil to get hurt."
"I don't want to hurt him, I promise. And I'll try not to let anything happen to him."
"Try isn't good enough." Jason started to walk towards Roman. "You either will or you won't. And I won't have you hurting my son." Jason poked Roman rather harshly in the chest. "Understood?"
"Yes, sir. Very understood." Roman said, his voice cracking slightly.
"Alright, back it up, dad." Virgil said, letting go of Roman's hand to push his dad back slightly. Issac ran up to his dad.
"Dada! Look! I made drawings!" He practically threw his sketchbook at Jason. Jason looked down at his youngest son and his face broke into a small smile. He bent down and grabbed Issac's sketchbook. He looked up at Roman, his face hardening again.
"Don't think you're off the hook yet." He muttered warningly. Virgil pushed Roman out of the room.
"Sorry about him, Princey." Virgil sighed, putting a hand on his head. "He's a little... intense."
"Must run in the family." Roman muttered. Virgil laughed slightly.
"Yeah, I guess. Mum's a little more... passive aggressive." Virgil laughed again. "She even used to call him 'a bit too rock-and-roll'."
Roman joined in his laughter.
"I can see why Remy said that he and your dad would hunt me down like it was so much of a threat. I wouldn't be surprised if he has a gun somewhere." His face dropped at Virgil's expression. "He's got a gun, doesn't he?"
Virgil nodded gravely. They looked at each other and burst out laughing, breaking the tension in the room.
Hello! Yes, this is JD and Veronica from Heathers. No, I don't ship them. This is them if the musical ended on the song "Seventeen". Hope I got their characters down as well as I could.
Bye,
Queenie
