"Hey Roman!"

Roman sighed. "Remus, please spare me." He said, not looking at his twin. "I'm tired."

"I wasn't going to..." Remus sighed and trailed off. He looked at his feet, twiddling his hands. "I just wanted to say that you were very good as Kenicki."

Roman looked at Remus, surprised, and smiled. "Thanks Re."

Remus grinned shyly. Then, his grin grew wider as he noticed the flowers Roman was holding. "Who're they from?"

Roman looked down at the violets. "Oh, er, Virgil."

Remus let out a quiet squeal. "Shut up." Roman said playfully, rolling his eyes. "It meant nothing, okay? Virge knows I've got a weird obsession with the meaning behind certain flowers and violet signify friendship so..." Roman trailed off, smiling at his twin but sighing internally.

"Ah." Remus said, his smirk not dropping. "So the emo is in denial."

"No one's in denial of anything, Re." Roman said, a harsh tone creeping into his voice. "Virgil sees me as a friend and I'm happy just being a friend to him. That's all." Roman walked away from his twin. "And that's all there ever will be." He added mentally.

Virgil fiddled with a Rubix cube before finally putting it down, unsolved, and getting up and pacing. "Was I too obvious?" He thought nervously. "I mean, you give every actor flowers after a first performance, right? And Roman knows that violets mean friendship. So, it shouldn't be too obvious, right?" Virgil sighed, running a hand through his hair. He took a deep breath. "Calm down, Virge. Roman wouldn't know you still like him. He's way too oblivious for his own good. Just calm down and go to bed."

Virgil sighed and sat down on his bed, tapping his fingers restlessly on his knees. Well, there was no way he was getting to sleep tonight. He pulled out his phone, checking the time. Just past 11 pm. Enough time to go for a walk and get back before midnight without anyone noticing. As long as he was quiet, he'd be fine.

Virgil crept out onto the landing, counting the doors. Remy's, Issac's, his parents, the bathroom. All doors were closed. Good. He shut his door as quietly as he could, pulling the hood of his plain black hoodie up over his head.

He was half way across the landing when he heard a door open. "Crap, crap, crap, crap." He thought.

"Virgy?"

Virgil turned around. Issac was standing by his door, rubbing his eyes against the half-light, the legs of his blue pyjama bottoms wrinkled.

"Where are you going?"

"Um, nowhere. Why're you up so late?" Virgil asked, big brother mode activated.

"Bad dream. I wanted to get a drink." Issac said, pointing at the bathroom door.

"Okay, well, go back to your bedroom, I'll get you a drink, okay?" Issac nodded and disappeared back inside his room, dragging his toy fox behind him. Virgil ran to the bathroom quietly and filled up Issac's little cup with water as quietly as he could.

"Here you go." He said, handing the little cup to Issac. Issac smiled at Virgil and put the cup down on a spare shelf of his bookshelf.

"Thank you Virgy." He smiled. "You can go for your walk now."

"How did you-?" Issac just giggled.

Walking around the silent park, Virgil was hit with a huge way of nostalgia. It was almost sickening. Everything in the park just seemed to scream 'Roman'. It made sense, Virgil supposed. He and Roman had been to the park countless times before he'd found out about the bet. Virgil had always taken those trips for granted, thinking that it would just become a part of normal life. How quickly life changes...

Virgil sighed, looking up at the cloudless sky. "I could count every star in this sky if I wanted to." He thought absently. "But it wouldn't do any good. I could wish on them all too. Nothing would happen. Nothing would change. And nothing ever will change. For the better, nothing ever will."

Hi. Sorry this chapter is a little late. I've had a really shitty day. Hope your day went better than mine did. :)
