WARNING: Slight homophobia, kinda a little bit of angst. Also, big Demus filler chapter

Remus giggled slightly and scrunched his face up under the feeling of the paint brush.

"Hold still, would you?" Janus hissed and Remus, who had his eyes closed, could imagine Janus sticking his tongue out in concentration.

"Sorry Jan. Can't help it." Remus said, opening one eye slightly. Janus hit Remus on the nose lightly with the wooden end of the paint brush.

"No talking. And close your eyes. I'm not done."

Remus sighed but did as Janus asked. He started humming a song from 'Little Shop of Horrors' and received another hit on the nose.

"No humming, either. No moving your face at all." Janus hissed. Remus sighed.

"Fine." He muttered and tried to stay as still and silent as he could. He did quite well, considering.

"Okay, done." Janus said finally. "You can open your eyes now."

"Does it look good?" Remus asked excited. Janus tilted his head to the side before picking up the face paint again.

"It looks unfinished. Close your mouth quickly."

Remus did so and Janus painted over one side of his lips, making him giggle.

"That tickles." He said as soon as Janus put the brush down.

"Well, go look. See if it's good or not." Janus said, packing away the face paint. Remus bounced over to the mirror where he could see his transformed face.

"Woah." He breathed. Janus had managed to turn his boyfriend into a half-done cyborg, blood dripping down from his forehead and his nose, bleeding all over the left side of his lip, and silvery wires and stitching winding in and out of his face.

"Does it look good?" Janus asked, laughing slightly when he realised he'd mimicked Remus' words.

"It looks awesome, Jan!" Remus said excitedly.

"Hold still, I need to take a reference picture." Janus said grabbing his phone and taking a quick picture. "Now, we must, sadly, make the masterpiece disappear." He said, grabbing a face cloth. "One sec."

Remus sat down cross-legged on Janus' bed, hearing the tap running in the bathroom. "What are you going to be for Halloween, Jan?" He asked excitedly as Janus came back into the room, kneeling down in front of Remus and starting to wipe the face paint off.

"Isn't being myself enough?" Janus asked. "I've already got the mask. Permanently." He indicated to the left side of his face.

"No, you cannot dress up as yourself for Halloween because you are not scary." Remus booped Janus on the nose. "You are adorable."

Janus rolled his eyes but Remus noticed pink rising in his cheeks and giggled.

"Close your eyes."

"Why?"

"So the paint doesn't drip into them and blind you." Janus said, one dead-pan glare shutting Remus down. Remus rolled his eyes and then closed them.

"Okay, all done." Janus said after a bit, his breath ghosting over Remus' lips. "You can-" Remus cut him off by leaning forwards and kissing Janus. He felt Janus jump slightly in surprise but kiss back, his hand winding around to the back of Remus' neck. Remus felt himself being pushed back and his back hit the wall as Janus climbed onto the bed, not breaking the kiss. A lock turning in the downstairs door broke them apart.

"Shit." Janus hissed, his breathing speeding up. "My dad's home."

"Janus!" Janus' dad yelled upstairs. "I'm home."

Janus ran to the door, waving his hand at Remus as a signal to not say anything. "Hey dad!"

"Who's up there with you? These shoes aren't yours." Janus' dad asked and Janus swore under his breath.

"Just my friend, Remus." In any other situation, Remus would've laughed at being called a friend but he knew how worried Janus was right now so he kept silent.

"Well, tell him that he's welcome for as long as he wants." That was another thing Janus' dad did. Assume pronouns.

"Okay. He was just leaving, actually." Janus said, backing away from the door and grabbing Remus by the hand, pulling him up. "You need to leave now." He hissed.

"I kind of gathered." Remus said sarcastically. Janus ignored his comment.

"As soon as we leave this room, no touching. Anywhere. No holding hands, no touching my hair, nothing. Nothing to suggest to my dad that we're more than friends, okay?"

Remus quickly kissed Janus on the lips, the feeling lingering. "Okay. That was all I needed. I know how important this is to you, Jan."

Janus smiled gratefully, his entire posture relaxing slightly. "Thank you, Rem." Janus hugged Remus quickly and tightly and then left the room. Remus took a breath and followed Janus.

"Dad, this is Remus. He's a really close friend so please be nice to him."

"As long as he's like you, I'll be nice." Janus' dad said absently. It took Remus a second to figure it out. Janus' dad thought Janus was straight so he, Remus, had to pretend to be straight to get along with him. Remus wrinkled his nose in disgust at this man.

"Hi Mr Dagger." He said politely, hating this man before having even spoken to him. Janus' dad looked up at him, his icy blue eyes flashing as he looked Remus up and down quickly, sizing him up.

"Please, call me Peter. All of Janus' friends do." Peter said, a false note in his voice. The hate was mutual, Remus worked out.

"Well, I'd better be going. Bye Janus." Remus said, waving at Janus and grabbing his shoes.

"Bye Remus." Janus said quietly. Remus hated how shy and worried Janus had become. It just wasn't Janus. Remus left the house.

Sorry that this is a huge filler chapter and a long filler chapter. I just.... Demus and no ideas. I'll get back to the actual plot tomorrow, I've got an idea. Promise.
