"Hey, are you okay?" Roman asked. They were waiting for Aaron's sister who was late.

"Yeah. Perfectly fine." Aaron said, forcing a happy tone into his voice. "Why?"

"Your eyes. They look sad." Aaron shrugged and looked back at his white trainers, dangling off the edge of the stage. Roman sighed and looked up at the rafters of the stage, laughing slightly.

"You know, that backdrop for the scenes in Frosties or whatever it's called reminds of... something." He said.

"What?" Aaron asked, slightly resenting the answer. Roman laughed a little again.

"Just a stupid bet I made a few months ago." Roman looked down at his hands, knotting them together. "God, it's been forever since then."

"Since what?"

"Like I said, just a stupid bet." Roman muttered. Aaron didn't buy it and something in his mind clicked.

"Is that how you started talking to Vi-Virgil?" He asked, stumbling over the name. He'd never stumbled over words before.

"Sharp as a flint, aren't you?" Roman asked, laughing slightly again. "Yeah. That's how I met Virge. A damn bet." He said bitterly.

"How'd it go?" Aaron asked, although he already had a vague idea of the answer.

"How d'you think it went?" Roman asked bitterly. "He's only just stopped avoiding me and I'm still bitter about what I did and I can't even begin to imagine how hurt Virge must be feeling."

"But you didn't mean to hurt him, right?" Aaron asked, almost seeking consolation that Roman could do no wrong. Desperately trying to keep the 'perfect Roman' image as the real one.

"Aaron, I agreed to a bet to break someone's heart. And it wasn't even that much money. £20. 20 Goddamn pounds. Two months' worth of pocket money. Petty, isn't it?"

"I...yeah." Aaron said eventually. He studied Roman's face. "You want to get him back, don't you?"

"Yeah." Roman said, almost ashamed of his answer. Aaron sighed inwardly, choosing to put his friend's needs before his.

"I could help you." He muttered. Roman looked at him incredulously. "I mean, my sister... they aren't 'friends', I don't think, but she's actually talked to him. Maybe, if she'd agree to it, we could try and set you two up?"

"You'd do that? For-For me?"

"Of course." Aaron said a little too quickly. "I mean, we're friends, aren't we? And that's what friends do, isn't it?"

Roman looked as if he were about to burst with happiness.

"Aaron, you are an angel!" He yelled excitedly, jumping off the stage. "Thank you so much!"

"Hey Lu?" Aaron asked cautiously.

"What?" Luella asked, still reading her book.

"Could you put your book down for one second, please?" Aaron asked irritably. Luella shot him a death stare but marked her book and closed it.

"Fine. Now what?"

"Well..." Aaron began before trailing off almost immediately.

"Spit it out, would you?" Luella asked, already opening her book again.

"So, I may have told Roman that I would help him get Virgil back and I may have enlisted your help in it!" Aaron yelled very fast. Luella stared at him, stunned. Then, her stunned expression turned to a mutinous one.

"Aaron, do you have any idea what Roman has done to Virgil? He's hurt him. Virgil's not-"

"I know! I know!" Aaron said, cutting his sister off. "But Roman feels so bad about it. He's really sorry."

"Sorry won't cut it for Virgil."

"I know!" Aaron sighed. "Luella, please. You know how long I've liked Roman for. Please help me make him happy with this one thing. Please!"

Luella sighed. "Fine!" She said. "Fine. But I don't like it."

It's so weird to write female pronouns in a fanfic when Rose isn't really a character. Because mostly it's he/him because of all the gay.
