"So, it's settled then?" The judge sat behind a large desk in his chambers, flanked on either side by several high-ranking officials. Across from him sat Olivia's Dad and stepmom.
Olivia's stepmom looked at her husband, who sat silently with his head lowered. She gave the judge a quick, awkward smile and turned back to her husband, nudging him with her elbow.
"Harris!" she hissed.
He held his face in his hands, his eyes closed, ignoring her.
She flashed another apologetic grin towards the judge and the group of men standing next to him.
"Mr. Ryan?" said the judge, impatiently.
Olivia's Dad slowly looked up, making eye contact only briefly before once again lowering his gaze to stare at the floor. "Yes. It's settled" he said quietly.
