Yeah, an update not a dream!
*****
Adeelah gained consciousness ten minutes after. The doctor explained that she's stressed out. Hajiya Sadiya linked it with the wedding jitters. It's after Adeelah was on her feet that Hajiya Sadiya realised amidst all these chaos, she hadn't catch a glimpse of Adeelah's groom. Ameer.
So she decided to ask. "Have you called him?"
Adeelah could swear she had forgotten about Ameer. No, she's forgotten that her wedding was going on. Before she could answer, a doctor came to see Hajiya Sadiya together with other members of the family. When Adeelah was sure they were out of sight, she looked at the drip on her hand and removed it. It's painful but she cared less about it. By Allah her heart was in more painful pieces than the piercing of a needle.
She tiptoed still feeling a little bit dizzy. She heaved a sigh, as if gathering all strength she had therein. She sided the hospital wall and quickly as she could, she exited the hospital.
She's lucky to get a napep around. So she stopped him and directed him to her house. Fifteen minutes later, she dropped and asked him to wait so she could bring his money.
When she dismissed him and she had turn on her heel, she heard someone call her. It's Ameer.
"In." She casually told him and they entered inside the house. No one was around, not even Malam Labaran, perhaps he had gone somewhere and 'forgot' to lock the gate as always. Ameer followed her inside the house.
Once in the main parlor, Adeelah jammed the door and slumped on a cushion with a loud sigh. Ameer looked at how she changed in a spur of a moment. Her eyes were hollow and pale.
"Explanations Ameer. Explanations." She breathed out, her hands slapping her face continuously. Ameer had never seen her in such a situation, he had never seen someone in such a disoriented state of mind. Adeelah looked like someone who's about to run insane; as if she's waiting for someone to unknot something and she would break loose.
Ameer felt pity for her. He wondered why she was looking that way or why there's no one in the house on their 'supposed' wedding day.
"The house is so quiet!" He finally said, not having a clue of where to begin talking.
Adeelah was surprised she could grin. Even though it was a mocking grin, she was surprised it came out so well. She stood up and walked to where Ameer was standing like statue.
"All thanks to you! All thanks to who? You! Damn you! Ameer Muhammad!" She yelled, this time around tears threatening to fall out of her eyes. She's never imagined that a day in her life would come where she would regret the course of her existence.
Astaghfirullah, but she wished she died than to witness such a day. Her head was full, webbed of confusions.
First, she heard about Beebo, then Ameer called off the wedding, then she, a ball, or rather a dice was tossed over to a stranger man and she's married off to him.
Then after all these, Abba fainted. In case someone missed it, that wasn't all, that same day she found out she's been living a whole haram life. Abba was part of a Mafia group or whatever they call it. No, 'fore that, he had a hand in the death of her mother! Not to forget that Abba was about to sacrifice her kidney. Her mother's wasn't enough, he had to give hers or her brother's!
How more ruthless could he be?
Wasn't it enough to make her go nuts? Wasn't it enough to make her wish she could just die? But here she was, even able to produce a sarcastic grin. Even able to remain sane, even able to bottle it up without absentmindedly spitting it out to any of her father's wives.
