"Thank you." I say grabbing my bag from the cashier at Bed Bath and Beyond. I see Brooke walking in. I run into an aisle and wait till she passes by. I look over and see that she is looking at the pillows. I rush out into my car.
My phone goes off and it's an unknown number.
"Hello?"
"Chloe!"
"Mikey?"
"Hi ya. It's me."
"No! No-I'm not talking to you."
"Chloe! Please!"
I hear Josh's voice
"No! I'm sorry. I can't do this." I say then hang up,
I put my phone down and ball into my hands.
"No! Chloe! No! Get over him! He isn't worth it. You are better than that." I say.
I drive home and see someone at the front door. It's my dad.
"Dad!" I say closing my car door.
"Chloe!" My dad says giving me a hug.
"What are you doing here?" I ask.
"I just wanted to check up on you and Clara....." He doesn't sound convincing.
"That's not it. You haven't even bothered to answer my phone calls." I say gripping my car keys.
"The thing is, I'm moving to Washington. And I want you to move with me." He says smiling.
I give him a cold stare. His smile grows away."No. I'm going to Yale and I'm staying here when I get back." I say crossing my arms. "All my friends live here." Saying that makes my heart pound and my palms sweat.
"Ya but Chloe, your mom told me your friends betrayed you." My dad says. I shoot a cold stare and my mom and say "That is none of your business." I say.
"Chloe, we are just watching out for you." My mom says.
"No you aren't. My friends are still my friends. Some more than others but I wouldn't trade them for the world." I say looking down.
It is quiet for a few seconds before I say, "The Yale Elite program starts in 2 days. I got a flight for tonight at 7:30 that I'm taking. I will be back in a few weeks." I say.
My mom nods her head and moves out of my way.
I walk upstairs to grab my suitcase.////end of chapter 6
