Chapter 25
----
I zip up the back of my red gown and look in the mirror.
My hair is curled, my nails are painted white, I am wearing the gold pin Josh gave me.
Today will be a good day....I hope.
I put my cap on and walk downstairs.
My mom sees me and starts to cry.
"Don't cry." I say giving her a hug.
I hand her a tissue and see Clara looking at me.
"This will be you in a few years." I say picking her up. She gives me a hug.
I walk out to the garage and sit in the front seat of my moms car.
"Ready?" She asks.
"Ready."
We get to the stadium and most of the student are sitting down.
I find the principal and he tells me what I need to do.
I feel like I'm gonna throw up.
I find my name and sit down. Josh isn't here. Nor Paige.
The principal starts talking and Josh and Paige casually walk in.
Everyone states them down. I just cover my mouth and laugh.
Josh sits down then looks back at me.
I smile at him.
The principal talks for about 5 more minutes.
"And now your valedictorian, Chloe Lukasiak." The principal says.
Josh looks back at me and smiles.
I take a deep breath then stand up. I feel the ground falling beneath me.
I'm not good with crowds.
I'm not good with crowds.
I'm not good with crowds.
I get up to the podium and lay my notecards down on it. I take another deep breath then look up.
I meet eyes with Josh and keep staring at him. He nods.
"Well hello." I say into the mic. Everyone laughs. I take another deep breath in.
"Ok, Hi I'm Chloe Lukasiak. To start this off I would like to say a few words about my year. My school year has been filled with ups and downs. I came to this school about mid October last year. I knew nobody. But a few special faces help me get on my feet......"
After about 2 1/2 minutes I start to wrap it up.
"We all don't know what is coming to us in the future. Some of us will be going to college, some us will get married, some us may not even know yet."
I look over at Josh. A tear falls from my cheek. He mouths, "don't cry
"But we all have a path that our minds have set for us. We just may not know it yet. But we will. There are things in life that we don't expect. Road blocks. But we all will find a way through them. Just like I did. I have had an amazing with you guys. And if you didn't get anything out of this speech get this, graduating from high school isn't the end, it is just the beginning. Thank you." I finish. Everyone starts clapping.
Josh stands up along with everyone else. I feel more tears fall from eyes.
I smile then walk back down to my seat on the stage.
----10 minutes later----
"Joshua Dale Hyland!" The principal says.
I stand up and start clapping.
Josh grabs his diploma then shakes the principals hand. I am on the stage because it's this random thing valedictorians have to do.
He comes over to me and before I knew it he was putting his lips on mine and dipping me.
(Amazing Spider-Man 2 moment! Anyone remember?)
He stops kissing me. I smile at him. The principal fakes a smile clearly annoyed.
I motion my eyes towards me. Josh brings me back to my feet, "We aren't students anymore." Josh says.
I smile.////end of chapter 25
