Josh and I drive back to my dorm.
"So... We need to talk." Josh says sitting next to me on my bed.
"Ok about what?"
"College." He says.
I sigh, "What about?"
"Well, I haven't gotten a confirmation call about university of Toronto, and if I did I want to talk to you about it first. I can't lose you again." Josh says.
"You won't. I think you should go. It's your dream to be in the NHL why don't you do it." I say looking him straight in the eye. I start to fiddle with the ends of my hair.
"Come here." He says grabbing my shoulder and pulling me to his chest.
"You're nervous." He says. "How could you tell?"
"Your hair." He says grabbing a piece.
"Oh." Is all I could say.
The "Chaperone" of our dorm knocks on my door reminding me to turn of my lights.
I get up and turn off my lamp as Josh lays down.
"You staying here?" I joke.
"Of course. I'll just leave tomorrow or something."
I lay down and bury my head into Josh's chest.
"Don't worry about it." He says brushing my hair with his hand.
"We will make it work."
"Pinky promise?" I ask putting my pinky in his face.
"Pinky promise."
Then I slowly fall asleep.
----1 week later----
Josh and I are driving back down to Pittsburgh.
Paige or any of our friends have seen me.
"So there all gonna be excited to see. Don't get overwhelmed." Josh says staring at the road.
"I know. There are gonna apologies from left to right."
"They just know how your emotions run." Josh says.
I look over at him wondering why he said that.
"Oh. Sorry." He says.
"Uh-hu!" I joke crossing my arms.
"Do you want to get something to eat?" Josh asks. I nod.
We drive up to mcdonalds and Josh orders 20 chicken nuggets and a large coke.
"What happened while I was gone?" I ask taking a bite out of a chicken nugget.
"Well, um, you know Kendall's boyfriend? Anthony?"
"Yeah."
"He cheated on her." Josh says
"What?" "Yeah, she walked in on him making out with some girl."
"Oh my gosh. How did she take it?" I ask.
"Pretty well actually. She cried for about half a day. Then got over him." He says sounding unsure.
"What else?" I ask.
"Zach drove her home that night and then the next day we saw them holding hands." "Oh!!! Anything else?" "Um, everyone is still dating-" "How's school?" I ask knowing everyone is probably thinking I'm crazy.
"Well I only went back the first few days lady week. Everyone was wondering where you were. They thought you ran away again. Some knew where you were at Yale. Others thought way too far into it." He said.
"Like what?" I ask looking over at him.
"Some figured something happened between you and me and you never want to show your face." He says.
My stomach drops. How far can people go? I look out at the distance.
"What do they think now?" I ask.
"Well, when I left everyone was saying I don't want to show my face either. So you and I are about in the same boat." Josh says.
I just laugh then kiss his cheek.////end of chapter 18
