Chapter 32

"FIREWORKS!" Mikey screams.
I stand up from talking with Paige and walk over to a picnic table.
Josh comes and sits next to me.
"You okay?" He asks. I nod.
He wraps his arm around me. I lay my head in his chest.
Mikey puts out a firework and lights it. He comes running back over and sits next to Paige.
After a few dozen more fireworks they stop.
The DJ starts playing again and the kids go back on the bouncy.
Brad comes over.
"Hi Josh." He says.
"Hey Brad. Say why don't we go on the bouncy house?" Josh asks.
I look at him like he is crazy.
"Yeah!" Brad chants!
He grabs both of our hands and runs to he first bouncy house.
"Ladies first." Josh says.
"You suck!" I mouth.
I climb up the ladder with Josh close behind me and brad a little ahead.
We get to the top and slide down the slide.
"Well that wasn't that bad!" Josh says.
"Let's go on another one." Brad says running towards a bouncy house like literally the ones where you just jump in.
I look over at Josh knowing we are too big. He gives me a concerned look.
"Come on." Brad says helping me in.
There are so many little kids and everyone knows Josh.
"Josh who is that?" A little girl asks.
"That's Chloe. She's my girlfriend." He says
I smile.
"Jump Josh!" Brad yells.
Josh and I start jumping and soon after we get down to go get a drink.
"Well wasn't that fun?" Josh asks.
I laugh. "Yeah it certainly was!"
"Come on. Let's dance." Josh says leading me to the area where the DJ Is.
He is playing a remix of "Blank Space."
Josh leads me over to the dirt area where the DJ is.
"Those kids are cute!" I yell.
"Yeah!"
"They love you!"
The song stops and Selena Gomez's "The Heart Wants What is wants comes on."
A lot of people walk back to the gazebo.
Josh grabs my waist and I wrap my arms around his neck.
"How was Conneticut?" I ask.
"Warm!" He says. I laugh.
"The school?"
"Um, big! And not that close to Yale." Josh slowly states.
"Don't worry about how far. We can make it work." I say messing with his hair.
The song ends and Josh and I walk back over to Paige and Mikey.
Brad comes over and drags Josh and Mikey to a field to play soccer.
"So how is your day?" Paige asks.
"Good. Your relatives are very opinionated."
She laughs. "Yeah. Don't tell then you life story or they will try to rearrange it." She says.
I smile and watch Josh kick the ball.
"Josh is so good with them." I say.
"Yeah. He loves kids. He wants to be a hockey coach for beginners." Paige says. I look at her.
"Brad is like his mini me. He is always trying to do the same things he is. Walking next to him. Eating what he eats. Everything!"
I smile then look back.
-----4 hours later----
It is 1:30 and everyone is leaving. Josh and I are walking back from the gazebo. The last car leaves.
Mikey and Paige left early because Paige felt sick.
"So that was fun." Josh says grabbing my hand.
"Yeah." I say looking at my shoes.
"What's wrong?" He asks.
"Nothing. Just tired."
Actually I'm not fine. His cousin kept trying to talk to me about my future. Josh didn't know because he was with Mikey.
We get to his car. Josh puts the key in and turns it. Nothing. He takes it out and tries again.
After a few more tries he drops the key and puts his hand to his forehead.
"No! No This can't be happening. Not today." Josh says.
I lean against the door.
"I'm gonna go outside and call someone." Josh says opening his door.
After a few minutes he comes back in.
"Maintenance won't be here till morning so make your self comfortable." Josh says.
I sigh, "Lets go outside."
I walk outside and climb up and into the trunk. Josh follows.
I open a box and take out a few blankets.
We always will just lay there talking.
I lay down on a few blankets and Josh does too.
"Then we can just stay here." I say.
He grabs his bag and takes out a bag of goldfish.
"Always prepared." He says. I laugh.
----Morning----
I wake up with my neck hurting.
Josh and I fell asleep in the trunk.
I turn to my side and Josh isn't there.i sit up and see that he is over by the gazebo.
I jump down and walk over.
"Good morning." I say.
"Morning gorgeous." He says.
I put my hand to my neck and move my head around.
"Does your neck hurt?" Josh asks.
"A little." He stands up and walk behind me. He puts his hands on my shoulders and starts rubbing my neck.
"Is that better?" He asks. I nod.
"What time is the maintenance coming?" I ask.
"Uh about in half an hour."
"Great!" I say.
The maintenance people come and fix Josh's truck. We drive back and get some food.////end of chapter 32
