Sophie hummed to the song that was playing on her phone as she was peacefully drawing on her desk in her bedroom.

She was drawing a dog...or at least she was trying to.

It had been about a month since Nick's funeral and Sophie was doing a lot better. She found herself feeling so happy and peaceful lately—it was a great change.

Sophie was learning to appreciate more of her own victories. It was also summer vacation so Sophie was practically spending every single day with her best friends.

They decided it was better for them to stick together and to help each other out.

As Sophie smiled to herself, she then heard the door of her room open behind her.

"Hello Sophie, what are you doing?" Edaline asked as she made her way to Sophie.

"Nothing really. Just drawing," Sophie said, looking back at her paper.

Edaline walked right behind Sophie and peered over her shoulder.

"Ooo is that an elephant?" Edaline asked.

"Um...no. It's a dog," Sophie said.

Edaline then laughed. "Oops my bad."

Sophie scrunched her nose. "It's a bad drawing, isn't it?"

"It could use some...improvement," Edaline said, chuckling.

"What's that?" Edaline asked after she finished laughing.

Sophie then looked to where Edaline pointed to see that it was Nick's opened diary. "It's Nick's diary," Sophie said, quickly closing it.

"Were you reading it?" Edaline asked.

"Yeah, just um...bits and pieces of it," Sophie lied. She had actually been rereading his diary over and over again.

"Well, just be careful not to let yourself get too caught up into it. You don't want to keep hanging on to the past," Edaline warned.

Sophie nodded. "Of course. I just want to get more of an idea on who Nick was in secret."

Edaline nodded in understanding. "Well, I just wanted to check up on you. I'll be downstairs if you need anything. Maybe you should invite your friends over or something."

"Maybe," Sophie considered.

Sophie then watched Edaline walk out of the room and made sure the coast was clear before she quickly opened Nick's diary back up again.

She opened to the page that was still bookmarked and bit her lip.

Okay...maybe it was a specific page that she kept rereading...

Obviously, Sophie was still recovering from Nick's tragic incident, but now that she was starting to move on from it...she was starting to notice other things that Nick's diary implied.

Sophie read through the same diary entry again:

Saturday, May 16th of 2020

Well...later tonight is the Foxfire Royal Ball! I have to get ready soon...

I don't want to though...

Tonight is the night I finally do it. After all Sophie and I have been through together, I now have to betray her.

To be honest...I was supposed to betray her already a couple of months ago...but I didn't...

I kept making excuses to the Neverseen by telling them how I still needed more information from Sophie and blah blah blah.

But if I have to be honest...I think it was me just stalling. I didn't want this day to come and I stupidly got attached. It's too late now—I never had the chance.
