Sorry that this is a shorter chapter! And it may be a bit boring but action is ahead! Anyways, enjoy!
"Alright everyone, listen up!" Mr. Forkle called, getting everyone's attention. That included Sophie, Nick, Grady, Edaline, Keefe, Dex, Marella, Biana, Fitz, Stina, and Tam.
"I know that last time things didn't go as planned...but the Blackswan and I have been preparing. We had a break to think things over and I think we are ready now," Mr. Forkle said, glancing at everyone.
"How do you know that we are ready now?" Tam snapped.
"Because we have been doing more research and we have a lead," Mr. Forkle replied.
"What's the lead?" Sophie asked desperately as Nick squeezed her hand for support.
Edaline stepped forward. "As you all are aware, the Neverseen kidnapped me while I was recovering in the hospital." She paused for a second and continued, "now while I was captured it was a very traumatic experience. It was terrible and I never wanted to remember it ever again."
Grady's jaw clenched as he held on tight to Edaline as she took a shaky breath. "Now, I didn't want to remember, but it occurred to me that maybe it can be useful. Like what if while I was captured, the Neverseen said something crucial. Information that could be valuable and useful."
"Well?" Sophie asked.
"I now remember that I did hear the Neverseen say something important."
Everyone gasped. "You did?" Biana asked.
Edaline nodded. "I remember how the Neverseen would constantly drug me. Well, one of the times I had woken up from the drug but they didn't know. They thought I was unconscious while I was listening to bits and pieces of things that they were saying with my eyes closed."
"What did you hear?" Dex asked.
"I heard them talking about a warehouse. Apparently, it's a warehouse that Sophie's parents used to do the more dangerous and delicate experiments," Edaline explained, looking at Sophie.
Sophie gasped. "Wait—so do you think that this warehouse is where the project my parents created is? The project the Neverseen are after?"
Mr. Forkle nodded and took a step forward. "Yes, I remember how your parents would leave work sometimes to conduct other experiments and I remember that they once told me how they worked somewhere secret for project 49aY27hqT. I never knew where it was, but when Edaline told me how she heard about it and the name, the Blackswan and I have done research and we figured out where this warehouse is located at," Mr. Forkle explained.
"Wait—so you knew about this lead that my mom had before we did?" Sophie asked.
"Yes Miss Foster. We didn't want to get you all excited and reckless so we kept it a secret as we researched it. But we planned on telling you." Sophie huffed in response.
"So...are we going to this warehouse?" Nick asked.
"Yes we are. But we will only go with a selected group. We can't be noticeable," Mr Forkle explained. And at that moment everyone exclaimed, "I'm going!"
Mr. Forkle put his hands up. "I already selected the group. Sophie, Grady, Keefe, Tam, and I will be the one's that go." Before anyone could argue, Mr. Forkle said, "the reasons why I have chosen that group was so we could be more sufficient. Sophie is involved in this so she should definitely go and she might spot something given that her parents worked at the warehouse. Mr. Ruewen and I will be going because there needs to be adults and I know the clues. And Tam and Keefe will come because they have shown us that they are clever and sneaky."
Keefe and Tam then glared at each other as if they were trying to decide who was better.
Honestly, the chosen group to go looked like it could be a disaster.
"But why can't I go?" Dex whined.
"Um, no disrespect Mr. Dizznee but you are in a wheel chair. It could be dangerous if you go in the condition you are in," Mr. Forkle said.
Dex growled. "That's not true! I can run over the Neverseen with my wheel chair!" Dex then started to wheel his wheelchair back in forth as in demonstration.
"Sorry, but the group has already been selected and we shall keep it that way," Mr. Forkle said. Dex growled in response.
"So...are we just going to do this mission while Linh is in the hospital in a coma?" Tam asked.
"I'm afraid we cannot wait for Linh to wake up from her coma. By then, it might be too late. So we'll just have to move on without her and hope she will wake up soon."
"Um, is everyone just gonna ignore the fact that the Neverseen knows where this warehouse is? They probably already checked it and stole whatever was important. This mission might be pointless and they might even attack you guys if they catch you," Marella pointed out.
"Ah yes Marella, that has occurred to me. I thought about it and maybe we are a bit slower than the Neverseen but we have the upper hand," Mr. Forkle said.
"How?" Fitz asked.
"We have the upper hand because we have Sophie. And if I can remember correctly, Miss Foster's biological parents gave me a note that said that Sophie was the key. So we just have to trust that Sophie is the key and can fix this mess."
"Okay, but that still doesn't answer if the Neverseen attacks us," Stina said.
"Well, we will come prepared. We will have weapons from Dex, have Blackswan backup, and we will be more cautious."
"That doesn't sound like enough," Tam said bitterly from his dark corner. "Some people have already gotten hurt when we thought we were prepared. But we weren't. I'm not so sure about this at all." Biana placed a comforting hand on Tam'a arm which caused him to flinch but he didn't shove her hand away.
"Well, Tam, that's why I'm counting on you to sneak us in sufficiently," Mr. Forkle said as if that was a done deal.
"And you have my ninja moves!" Grady added, kicking in the air.
Everyone shook their heads. "Dad, it's just you," Sophie said, embarrassed.
Grady narrowed his eyes at Sophie. "So...I guess this is it? We're gonna do this?" Biana asked.
"Yes, tomorrow we will do it. We'll pick you guys up and...this time we'll be ready," Mr. Forkle said.
Everyone nodded their heads but Sophie could tell they were nervous. Everyone kept glancing at Dex's wheel chair and that seemed to make them more fearful.
Sophie just had to hope things would work tomorrow.
