Chapter 19: Cut to Ribbons

Jean put the blade at his neck and smirked. Ray stared at him with anger. No fear. Nothing but pure rage. The blade was traced down Ray's face and then traced his scar that was over his mouth.

"I remember how you got this... You thought you could have saved Evelynn. Poor thing didn't survive because of you."

Jean taunted and stabbed Ray's scar and traced it, causing teal blood to spew out. Ray just closed his eyes and threw his head back and began to struggle. I felt the anger in me boil. I was about to charge at Jean but Hachi put his arm out in front of me and shook his head no.

"Not the time. Not just yet Y/n.." Hachi spoke as tears trailed down his face.

I looked back and saw the horrid scene continue to take place. Jean laughed as he removed his blade out of Ray's scar. Jean looked at him and began to slash at his midriff and arms. Ray was fighting for his life as blood got everywhere. Ray then turned Jean over and pinned him down. He tried to take a moment to breathe but was shocked to see that Jean shoved his blade in Ray's side causing a yell of pain to erupt from him. He quickly looked at Jean and grabbed the blade and took it out of him, throwing it to the side. Jean smirked and kicked him to the side. Once Ray hit the ground he slid a bit leaving a blood smudge on the concrete. I had enough, I ran past Hachi and tackled him to the floor. I began to fight him off but was then shoved off him by Vera. Hachi ran over and dragged me off him. I looked over at Ray and he looked lifeless.

"I should cut all of you all to ribbons! Colorful, messy ribbons." Jean spat as he got up. He looked at his attire and gave a look of disgust. "This idiot got blood all over me." Jean walked over to Ray who was curled up on the floor. Jean stood up and looked at him with anger. "Get up. I'm not done with you yet." Ray didn't move at all. I look over to Cara and Sancus to see tears welling up in Sancus' eyes as Cara cried silently. Jean spat on Ray to see if he would move. Nothing. Jean seemed to get even angrier and kicked Ray a few times. After the last kick, he flipped him over. He looked like he was dead. Blood smeared all over his armor and his scar looked like it was showing his teeth now. "Torture is no fun if I can't see you in pain," Jean spoke. He saw the massive gash where the knife had been stuck in and did something that I would never see any other Creature do. He stepped on his open wound with all his weight. Yet, not a single sound came out of Ray. Hachi grabbed my hand with a good amount of force and I heard small cries from him.

"Y/n... I think he's dead.." Hachi cried. I held my mouth with my free hand and felt my eyes water.

'He's dead.. N-no it can't be...'

Jean pulled his foot up and saw the teal blood drip from his shoes and simply wiped his shoe on Ray's body as if he was a doormat and walked away with Vera and Scarlett following after him. Cara and Sancus ran up to Ray crying and pleading that he was still alive.
"Ray! Please! We can't lose you! Cara and I can't live knowing that this is how you met your end." Sancus cried. He pulled Ray up on his lap and looked at Ray's bloody face. His thumb traced his now larger "scar".

"Evelynn... I'm sorry. I-It should have been me, not you." Ray spoke weakly. Sancus grabbed his coat and wrapped it around his midriff and tied it tight to prevent any more blood loss. Tears flowing knowing that Ray was nearing death. Not just being splatted. Being murdered.
