an unfortunate mishap

pairing: stenbrough (but stanley has the stutter)

stanley put his backpack on the floor of the subway, mainly because if he had it on his back, he would accidentally be pushing this kid behind him out of the train. thus, instead, his backpack was on (mostly) his feet, which were on the ground of the train. he waited for his stop expectedly, tapping his foot on the ground. he tapped his foot to the beat of the song playing in his ears. he was coming back from school, and this was a daily routine for stan. 

finally, after approximately ten minutes, and such a strange variety of music from stanley's ears, he reached his destination. stan bent down slightly to grab his backpack, and overhead there was a ding and some lady announced the station. he turned around to see the open door, and made the grave mistake of reaching his arm up. as he did so, his fist collided with the boy behind him's nose. the contact created a solid crack! in the moment, and the boy yelped. the door opened at that moment, and the boy stumbled out of the train onto the station, causing alarm to the other people on the train.

"o-ho-oh-my-m-fuck-sor-sor-" stanley shouted, much louder than he had expected. the boy looked more surprised, and stan's mouth hung open, unable to speak. 

"fuckin-ow, jesus christ," the other boy said, clutching his phone in his hand. his backpack had blocked the fall for the most part, but he held his nose with his other hand. stanley looked panicked and blinked rapidly, crouching down next to him.

"fu-oh-i-wa-wuh-wuh-wai-shit-" stan kept stuttering, unable to produce a single solid word except for swear words. he fumbled through his bag and found a tissue and handed it to the boy, who smiled weirdly and took the tissue.

"thanks, i guess. for the tissue and for punching me." the boy said in reply, and stanley just kept stuttering violently. "are you okay?" he asked, although the question definitely should have come from stanley to him. stan took a deep breath in.

"i'm s-suh-suh-sorry. stut-t-t-ter. i didn't.... mean to.... puh-puh... punch you. i'm so-so sorry. holy fuck." stanley finally got out words, and he reached his hands out hesitantly towards the other kid.

"it's okay, i just, fuck it hurts. i think you broke my nose," he was still holding his nose, and he (struggled to) put his phone in his backpack. his hair fell into his face, and stanley instinctively brushed it out of the other boy's face, and the two stared at each other for a moment. the boy snickered, and then winced, and stan snickered a little too. "i'm bill," he said, and he would've put a hand out for stanley to shake, except that his hands were both occupied at the moment.

"o-oh. i'm stanley." stan said, the two words he had been able to say without a stutter, having repeated it so many times. bill nodded at him, and stanley felt that he was turning pink. great news. he had just punched this cute boy in the fucking face, and probably broke his nose. 

"nice. i... i was supposed to be visiting here, but i have no clue where anything is, and my nose really fucking hurts. and," bill held his hand to the bottom of the nose and looked at it, confirming his suspicion, "and it's bleeding. so, uh, do you maybe know where a hospital is?" bill asked. stanley nodded quickly, grimacing at the sight of bill's nose. bill continued to hold his nose, and stan stood up. he reached out a hand to him.

"c-cuh-cuh-come here--take this," stanley said, and bill slapped his hand onto stan's, wrapping his fingers around the palm of stan's hand. stanley blushed once again, feeling extremely embarrassed, and he pulled bill off the ground. they ended up rather close to each other, and stan got a full view of bill's nose. he had one thing to say, yikes! "o-oo-oh fuck, that's not guh-good, buh-but it doesn't look to be anything more than a minuh-nuh-nuh-n-minor fracture. i'll take you to mine, c'mon," stanley decided, and it was only then that they let go of each other's hand and stood apart from each other a little.
