Fear.

Was what I felt as I looked at the monster inside the storm.

I can't fight this thing!

Was what I thought as I looked at the monster inside the storm.

Nothing.

Was what I did as I looked at the monster inside the storm.

Silence.

Was what I heard as I looked at the monster inside the storm.

The world seemed to move in slow motion as the monster turned her head to face me, when she saw me she smiled her sharp teeth glinting in the light from the storm. I stood not able to move as she started towards me, her horn glowed and she aimed it directly towards me, I was barreled to the side as something crashed into me, the ball of flame scorched my back leg as it flew past and crashed to the ground right where I'd been standing moments before, I looked around to see who had saved me when I saw Christilia standing beside me and panting.

"Thanks." I said walking over to her.

"No problem." she replied between breaths.

As I slowly came back to reality I remembered what was happening. The kingdom was in flames, buildings came crashing to the ground, the castle walls were crumbling, and worst of all there were bodies, the bodies of ponies that hadn't made it, some were guards and others were villagers, the bodies were strewn across the ground and I stared in horror as Lamia strode into the kingdom with no one to stop her.

Protect and defend, protect and defend!

I recited the words my father had told me time and time again, he had said that those were the most important things a leader could do, protect and defend. I straightened myself standing taller and faced the queen. She walked closer and closer to me, still smiling she said in a voice cracked from going a long time without usage:

"Ah, Gloria, I've heard so much about you and my spies told me that it's your destiny to defeat me, isn't it?"

"Y-yeah, so what!?" I said my voice shaking as I stared into the eyes of my enemy.

"So I'll have to kill you before you get a chance!" her smile faded as she bared her teeth in a snarl.

"No!!"

Queen Lamia turned towards the sudden outburst just as a bolt of magic hit her in the side, she hissed.

"Who dares!" she spat.

"Me." Queen Gleaming Glory strode towards Queen Lamia, her horn was glowing and her brows were furrowed in determination.

"Mother!?" I cried out. "Get out of here you could get hurt!"

"A small price to pay to protect my daughter." she said, she looked at me. "Gloria, run."

I didn't want to leave her but my legs started moving anyways and I ran and just as I did, everything exploded.
