Chapter 42: Bringing Back an Old Friend

I soared over the rooftops of  Trottingham, searching for Eclipse. I had to find her before she caused anymore destruction. I was scared, the kingdom — my kingdom — wasn't safe as long as she was loose.

Come on you big, flashy, jerk! Where are you?!

I growled, this would not stand, I must stop this new tyrant, my duty was clear to me now. But I couldn't do my duty if I couldn't find the one it was about! I sharpened my gaze, scanning the ground, where was she? Had she run off to another kingdom, looking for allies maybe? I stopped and looked up, sighing I watched my breath wisp through the cold morning air. The snow and ice on the houses and turrets of El Turnia glistened and twinkled in the light of the rising sun and a sparrow flew past me, chirping happily. I didn't want to have to fight again it was growing tiring and more fearful. Could Eclipse really be worse than Lamia or Time Warper?

"SURPRISE!" somepony shouted behind me.

And before I could turn round Eclipse rammed into my side, sending me falling.

"Looking for someone?" Eclipse laughed.

I caught myself as I fell, spreading my wings I soared back up. I met Eclipse in the air and it all began.
I blasted her with my horn sending her back but she did not give up, Eclipse pummeled me with her violet hooves. I growled and flung myself at the Alicorn, she dodged out of the way and I had to stop from crashing into the castle. I shot back towards Eclipse and at the last moment flew under her and kicked her from behind. Eclipse screamed, more from anger than pain, she adjusted quickly and I readied myself for another attack. Suddenly, she turned and dove down towards—

"Oh no you don't!" I yelled and followed her.

We were now both diving towards the ground, and not just towards any random place. We were going to the Statue Garden, I'm sure you know what Eclipse was trying to do.

I can't fight two enemies, especially not on my own!

Eclipse landed before I did and ran, faster than anypony I'd ever seen!

"STOP!" I yelled. "DON'T RELEASE HER! YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING!"

Eclipse turned to look at me as she ran. "NEITHER DO YOU!"

I scowled, Eclipse was an idiot, Lunacy would never help her! The Empress of Chaos had no allies, everything must be hers and hers alone. I followed, the cobblestone hard under my flying hooves, wind pushed past my face as we neared the frozen body of Lunacy.

I knew this was a stupid place to keep her.

Eclipse stopped abruptly and elegantly while I skidded to a halt dust flying all around, I sneezed. Eclipse looked up at her- Lamia's creation.

"Hello old friend, what have they done to you?" Eclipse rested her hoof on Lunacy's stony side.

"Stop... don't do it!" I panted.

Eclipse without moving lifted me into the air and I was once again hanging, right side up this time.

"Aw come on!" I struggled, helplessly.

Eclipse paid me no mind, tracing circles around her so thought weapon. Finally she stopped, back where she'd begun and soaring up, placed her horn on the spot where Lunacy's heart would be.

"Come back to me." Eclipse whispered.

"No!" I shouted. "Please, don't do this!"

Oh, who am I kidding? Eclipse won't listen to me! I'm her enemy!

Eclipse shut her eyes and seemed to be trying to release something from inside. Her horn shone blue and red, lines appeared across Lunacy's statue.

Cracks, she's breaking her free!

Then Lunacy's eyes lit up, yellow and the cracks grew brighter and bigger until it seemed Lunacy was glowing inside! Then the stone pieces broke and the light shone out onto the garden.

"Ahahahaha!" Lunacy was laughing.

Uh oh.

Then her figure slumped to the ground, Eclipse flew out of the way and hovered just above Lunacy's head. Lunacy clawed the ground, pushing herself upright, her back legs dragged across the gravel as she stood.

"How do you feel?" Eclipse smiled.

Lunacy stood, spreading her blew and orange wings, her tail brushing against the ground. She glanced up at me her yellow eyes had an odd glow in them. She grinned, revealing her fangs.

"I feel.." Lunacy paused and glanced at Eclipse. "Like killing something."

"Well that can certainly be arranged!" Eclipse laughed.

My eyes stretched wide. "Wait, are you talking about me?"
