THE DIVINE REALM SERIES: THE BEGINNING OF THE DIVINES

CHAPTER 8 - TREKKING THROUGH THE DESERTED WASTLELAND

Several hours later as Drake and Dragoon are venturing further into the deserted wasteland beginning to lose track of which direction they are going. "I swear we are going around in circles" Drake exclaims in an exhausted tone, as they both begin to feel dehydrated. Dragoon ignores Drakes preposterous thoughts and continues to walk further ahead of Drake.

"Look that is the same rock we passed half an hour ago" Drake says in annoyance as he points at a small rock in the yellow dry sunburnt sand. Dragoon grunts and walks back to Drake, glancing at the rock then looking at Drake "Can you stop, that is not the same rock we passed half an hour ago" says Dragoon in a disdainful tone.

Drake begins looking at Dragoon unsatisfied with his tone. "Look" Dragoon says as he rolls his eyes then bends down to grab the rock. Becoming instantly confused as he tries over and over to pick up the rock but struggles to move it even an inch.

"What's wrong the rock to heavy?" Drake mocks Dragoon cheekily. Then begins looking over Dragoon's shoulder, trying to see why he was struggling to pick up such as small rock. Dragoon begins clearing the sand around the rock to find out, it is not a rock at all but a giant dark smooth scale.

Dragoon slowly stands out of the hole that he just dug out around the side of the giant scale. Both Drake and Dragoon stare at it in a daze wondering what it is that he they have just uncovered. "What is it?" Drake says as he stands beside Dragoon at the top of hole, staring confusing at the giant scale.

Just moments after Dragoon gets out of the hole, still in daze they begin to feel slight tremors in the ground, it feels as though something is moving underneath them, through the sand.

Dragoon and Drake both look around frantically wondering where the tremors are coming from as they keep looking around the area, the tremors begin to get stronger and stronger, than they stop suddenly. Both Drake and Dragoon confused as to what is happening, keep glancing around to see if they can find out what was making the tremors. As they look around, they can see something extremely large moving slowly a fair way off in the distance.

Dragoon slowly starts walking towards it trying to get a better look to see what it is. "Dragoon, what are you doing? We don't even know what that thing is and by the looks of it, it's huge" Drake mutters quietly. "I just want to get a closer look is all" Dragoon responds quickly as he continues looking off in the distance.

As Drake tries to convince Dragoon not to get any closer to the creature in the distance, the large scale in the sand begins to move slowly, Drake sees the scale moving in the corner of his eye as he is looking at Dragoon. "DRAGOON LOOK" Drake yells as he begins to freak out pointing straight at the scale moving in the sand. Dragoon looks back to see what Drake was freaking out about, seeing him pointing directly into that he had dug earlier. Not able to see what is going on in the hole from where he is standing, he walks back to get a better look as to what is going on.

Whilst Dragoon is walking back towards the hole in the ground, there was a loud crashing sound off in the distance. Both Drake and Dragoon quickly turn their attention back towards the creature in the distance seeing a large cloud of sand and large chunks of earth shooting high up into the air.

As they are watching what is happening in the distance, they notice the large cloud of sand getting closer and the tremors begin again, "We need to find somewhere hide now" Dragoon says as he quickly starts running towards some large nearby sand dunes "Wait for me" Drake screams as he quickly runs after him.

Dragoon gets confused as he begin nearing the top of the sand dunes as the tremors are still getting stronger even though they are running away from the large creature, shaking the confusion out of his head he focuses on running towards the sand dunes to try and find somewhere to hide. "DRAGOON STOP!!! GET AWAY FROM THOSE SAND DUNES" Drake screams from behind Dragoon. Dragoon can only just hear him, so he stops running and turns back towards Drake, only to see him pointing at the dunes the fear in his eyes.

Dragoon turns back to the sand dune he has been running towards seeing it slowly getting bigger and bigger like a wave of sand, he quickly starts to run towards the side of sand dune to prevent the sand from hurting him if it does come crashing down like a wave, just as he is near the edge of the dune a giant spiked claw emerges through the raising sand dune, swinging straight towards Dragoon. Dragoon quickly dives into the sand as soon as he sees the claw coming towards him.

He rolls over in the sand, to see what looks like a giant spider with large, spiked crab claws emerging from within the dune with sand begins crashing to ground around it as it falls off the giant spider, Dragoon eyes frozen wide open, not being able to stop staring at it in shock. He has never seen anything like it in this world.

"DRAGOON LOOK BEHIND IT" Drake yells as he points towards what looks like the entrance to some abandoned mines on the other side of the insanely large spider legs. Dragoon quickly stands up and begins rushing to get underneath the giant spider, as he is running, the large sand cloud from earlier has finally caught up with them, engulfing the area with a large dense cloud of sand. Both Drake and Dragoon cannot see anything through the thick cloud of sand.

Drake tries yelling out to Dragoon to see if he has made it to the entrance of the cave "DRAGOON WHERE ARE YOU?" He yells. Suddenly tremors and a loud crashing noise, come from inside the cloud of sand as if the giant spider is staggering around frantically. As he is trying to keep his balance Drake can hear Dragoon's voice coming from within the large sand cloud "Drake where are you? Follow my voice" Drake begins to slowly make his way through the cloud of sand still not being able to see anything due to dense sand cloud. The spider's footsteps start getting louder and louder as Drake continues going through the sand cloud.

As sand cloud begins to get thinner, he can see two extremely large shadows fighting in the distance, he knows one is the spider but the other one looks like a giant snake or worm. He continues through the cloud as it gets thinner and thinner he begins to emerge onto the other side of the sand cloud to see the giant spider fighting what looks like the ancient divine beast Enderworm, a giant worm with scales made of think dense stone, rumors say his body length is over a mile.

Drake's eyes widen at the sight of the fight between the two godly creatures, he begins frantically looking around to see where Dragoon is, when he looks at the entrance to the mine, he can see Dragoon standing slightly inside, waving at him telling him to run. Drake quickly takes off running as fast as he can towards the entrance to the mine, not paying attention to the fight between the giant spider and the Enderworm.

An extremely loud noise comes from the spider as it begins to crash down to the ground right above Drake, "RUN!!!" Dragoon screams at Drake, as the spider is about to crash on top of him. Drake still running as fast he can, quickly dives into the entrance as the spider begins to hit the ground. Sending sand, dust and parts of rubble flying around the area, crushing the entrance to the mine.
