"Are you okay?" Said George, leading Georgia to sit at a bench near the lake.
"I'm fine," she smiled, playing with the hem of her dress.
"Shame about the party though,"
"There'll be more parties, G."
"I suppose."
"I'm sorry it got cut short,"
"Not your fault, it's Malfoy's."
"If he comes near you again, I'll kill him myself." George growled, clenching his fists.
"I've got to admit George, I don't think I've ever seen you get so aggressive," she giggled, noticing his stern expression.
"When it comes to your safety, I can be." He smiled at her, glancing at her dress and allowing his eyes to travel up to hers. "You look beautiful tonight by the way,"
"Really?"
"Yes, you're even sporting Gryffindor colours."
"Your brother didn't notice,"
"My brother is an idiot."
"You always notice."
"I always notice."
She shook her head, baffled.
"Why are you being so nice to me? I ditched you, for Ron."
"Yes well there is that." He chuckled, staring out at the reflection of the moon on the water.
"But I understand, you were scared. I'm willing to forgive, willing to wait."
"You understand?"
"Like I said G, I know you."
"And you're just okay with the fact I went to the dance with your brother, just as is?"
"I'd be lying if I told you it made me want to do the conga," he shrugged. "But like I said, I understand why you did it."
Georgia stared up at the Gryffindor, speechless. She couldn't believe he was willing to overlook so much for her, wait for her so loyally. She always knew that they had chemistry, sharing in flirtatious banter and many a long night deep chat, but she didn't realise his care ran so deep.
He had protected her tonight, it was... attractive. Before she had time to think about what she was doing, she sat up and kissed him.
George froze with shock, but after a second or two had passed he leaned into the Hufflepuff, holding her face gently.
He had waited so long for this day.
Meanwhile
Adele stormed out of the infirmary, unimpressed. She had just dropped Harry off there and was heading back to the ball. She had now lost her date, as well as her pride, thanks to Ki once again upstaging her. But mainly she was furious with Malfoy. What reason did he have for attacking Harry? Why this night?
She turned a corner to see Draco, leaned back against the wall, one foot propped up in his usual, charismatic stance.
She walked on defiantly, avoiding his looming stare.
"Adele, wait - please," he grabbed her arm, causing her to spin around.
"What is it that you want Malfoy? Do you want to torture me? Mess with my head? Why couldn't you attack Harry any other night?! You had to do this today,"
"I didn't mean to ruin the ball for you,"
"Well, you did! Now I have to go back to the ball, embarrassed and with no date - and it's entirely your fault!"
