Triwizard Tournament, The finale
///////////////////////////////////"Go Cedric!" Kiara cheered her best friend on as he ran through the hedged maze, triumphant music played in the foreground and the crowds cheered as the champions headed inside, in search of the Goblet of Fire. She sat once they had vanished out of sight.
"We went skiing today," Said Georgia, when they were all out of sight. She had stuffed popcorn into her mouth, making it harder for Kiara to understand what she was saying. "Me and Seamus I mean."
"Seamus and I," Kiara corrected.
"He took me to the uh - you know those mountains, those um, what are they called?... The Alps!"
"That's nice." Kiara replied still staring down at the bare hedge.
"He's good for me Ki, he's the best! He always takes me to new places, we have so many adventures and he always buys me stuff once we get there. I've told him so many times that he doesn't have to but he insists!"
"Mhmm."
"Like today, he got me fudge, a new skiing outfit and hot chocolate that we drank right on top of the snowy mountain! I'm just so in love! He treats me so well, did I tell you he meets me after class too? He's just what I need at the moment, you know?"
"Yup."
"Am I missing something?" Georgia peered at the Hufflepuff, catching her mellow tone and attempting to meet her eye. "Why aren't you happy for me?"
"I am G," She turned to her putting on the grandest fake smile she could muster up.
"No you're not! You're so off with me right now,"
"I'm not off with you,"
"Then what is it? Just say."
"It's nothing."
"Spit it out!"
"It doesn't matter,"
"Yes it does, please Ki. I know that I've not been around much recently, but you're still my best friend! I can tell something's bothering you so you simply must tell me what it is!"
Kiara hesitated, glancing at Georgia, who was emphasising the puppy dog face by sticking out her bottom lip, it looked less piteous and more comical.
"Fine. It's just... I think that you're trying way too hard to persuade me of all the reasons why Seamus is perfect for you, but it doesn't sound like you actually have feelings for him. You just like the stuff he does and the places he takes you, which is great but also pretty useless in the grand scheme of things. I know you're really just trying to convince yourself that you're over George when you're not. It makes it rather difficult to talk to you when I know I'm speaking to someone who's essentially lying to themselves,"
Georgia was stunned, her mouth agape in the shock of Kiara's blunt delivery.
"That's - that's not - I have a boyfriend now!"
"You keep saying."
"Ki, that's not fair! George hurt me, he's with Mila now and-"
"I'm not saying he was right and you were wrong," Kiara interrupted. "I'm saying you've been distracting yourself instead of facing your real feelings. Letting Seamus take you around the world isn't love G, the way George made you feel is, and that's okay. It doesn't mean that he's in the right by being with Mila, or not waiting for you, it just means you have to acknowledge that you still love him."
