The prefect common room was beginning to fill up with more and more students, Belle and Harry left with the task of keeping watch over the door until everyone arrived and they could magically seal it.
"Adele's party and she's not even turned up yet, where are they?" Belle mumbled.
"I'm not sure, I need to see if Ron's okay," Harry said, noticing Ron consume eight shots, one after another.
"Oh my gosh" Amelia said, noticing the entrance of the Hufflepuff girls, who had all come coordinated, dressed as the 70's group ABBA.
"You guys look amazing!" Said Belle, who had also opted to dress as a muggle musician, Michael Jackson.
"Thankyou," said Adele, who flipped her hair exaggeratively.
"We try," Georgia said, blowing on her nails.
"I'm gonna get a drink," Kiara sighed, walking over to the food and drinks table, seemingly disinterested. The notion of getting caught wasn't exactly her idea of exciting, she was here to ensure of everyone's safety. The only thing that irritated her was that Cedric wasn't able to make it meaning she found herself royally alone. No one else quite understood the journey of an introvert during a lively party. She would make way for the bookshelf soon.
Later
"Baby guiness! Baby guiness!" Adele began chanting, standing on top of the coffee table.
"Get down Deli!" Kiara pleaded, turning to Georgia who was only in fits of laughter.
"Harry please get her down, I'll pour her some water," Kiara said, shaking her head at the intoxicated Hufflepuff.
"Take care of her," she said, handing him a glass. "I'm going to go make her some toast."
"I told you, no no funners allowed!!" She slurred.
"Come on Adele, there's more fun over here," said Harry, who had picked her up off the table and began to lead her towards the bottom of the staircase in the next room.
It was quieter where they were, so he urged her to sit and drink the water Kiara gave.
"Harry, Harry always happy," Adele sang, merrily.
"Harry you are probably my best friend, like I mean my best friend ever."
"Am I?" He chuckled wiping off some of her water dribble with his sleeve.
"You always just see me and then you say - it's okay - and then it is! It's okay Adele so I'm okay again and everything is fixed, so it's all okay."
"Makes sense."
"You say okay so it is then okay,"
"I'm not sure that's quite the way it goes,"
"It is! It is. You are so the best."
Before he knew what she was doing, she had leaned over and began to kiss him intensely, pulling his shirt towards her. He knew she was drunk, and he should probably stop her, but for whatever reason, he didn't pull away, he kissed her back just as passionately.
"Not quite what I meant by taking care of her Haz," said Kiara, wide eyed and putting a plate down next to Adele, who smiled up at the Hufflepuff, grasping the toast and beginning to munch on it ungracefully.
Harry blushed fervently, avoiding her gaze.
"I'll um, I'll go see if Ron is -"
"Yeh," Kiara interrupted, awkwardly with a firm stare. Disappointed was not the word.
He left the room in a rush.
Kiara sat next to her best friend, who was laughing to herself insistently.
"I just - kissed - Harry!" She screamed out in between breaths, bellowing into fits of giggles. Despite Kiara's attempt at composure, she couldn't help but eventually laugh along with her.
Later
"Belle," Craig said, approaching the young Ravenclaw, who was stood near the crackling fireplace.
"Yeh?" She replied, eyebrows raised.
"Do you want to go to the Yule Ball with me this Christmas?"
"Nah," she shrugged.
"Oh..."
He began to walk away, but Belle grabbed his shoulder before he could, turning him back around to face her.
"Okay, fine!" She exclaimed, loudly.
"Really?"
"Yes now don't get all emotional on me." She pushed him, urging him to return to where he had walked over from, avoiding his eye.
"Where's Ki?" Georgia asked, going over to the Ravenclaw.
"I think I saw her go into the next room,"
"Was that Craig I just saw taking to you?" She smiled suggestively.
"Maybe,"
"And?"
"And... I have a date to the Yule ball!" She squealed, jumping up and down joyfully.
"I'm so happy for you!"
"I mean it's fine, it really wouldn't matter even if I didn't have a date,"
"Sure,"
"And it's not like I fancy Craig or anything,"
"Uh huh,"
"But I'm still happy it's him who asked me."
"Girls!" Said Adele, slightly sobered up, running towards them, followed by Kiara, walking behind.
"Fire whiskey?"
"That's what I was just thinking," Georgia smiled at Kiara's disapproving frown.
"It's on your conscience," she sighed. "And existence,"
"I can live with dying," Belle nodded after faking consideration.
"Oh yes, very clever." Kiara shook her head. "Merlin give me strength."
