Olivia's pov

It was time to go back home. I had people waiting to be turned into dancers. Old Lani had her bakery calling her. The boys and the kids had schools to attend, and Owen had a job to return to. Everyone seemed busy with life.

After saying our final goodbyes to Bill, Freya, and her family, we got into the car. The drive home was tiring. The boys and the kids, along with Old Lani, screamed out songs while Owen complained about their taste in music, whining that he was hungry but also wanted to sleep. As usual, everyone ignored him. I sat between River and Ocean, who were shouting out random words that came into their minds. It was cute. They reminded me so much of their father. He was unique. He could play the guitar like a pro, but he was terrible at memorizing lyrics, so he would make up his own words. That was one of the many things that made me fall for him. I smiled, thinking of the man who held my heart so tightly.

I looked at Owen, who was now singing with the rest of the group, his hunger and sleepiness forgotten. The funny thing was that he did not know the lyrics either. He was doing the same thing as the kids. I smiled again. They reminded me of him.

I looked at everyone sitting in the car and felt a wave of peace. This was heaven.

Old Lani was driving the van slowly, which was unusual. For the first time while riding in her car, I felt safe. I knew I would not die in a crash.

Soon, Harry, who was sitting in the front seat, muted the music. "Guys, I need to tell you something," he said. Everyone's interest was piqued, and all eyes turned to him. He shifted his body halfway to face us, but before he could speak, the car came to a sudden halt. We all lurched forward, and my reflexes kicked in as I spread both arms in front of Ocean and River. My motherly instincts went wild. I looked at the kids with wide eyes.

"Are you okay? Are you hurt?" I asked, scanning them for any sign of injury.

"MOM! What happened? My Cheetos fell out of the packet!" Owen complained as he picked them up and shoved them into his mouth. Ocean scrunched her nose in disgust. Owen noticed.

"I ate it before five seconds, so it's fine," he said, stuffing another handful of Cheetos into his mouth.

"Livi, it is globally proven that if you eat food that fell before three seconds, then it's safe," he added, popping a piece of popcorn into his mouth that had fallen earlier. I scrunched my nose in disgust.

"Remind me why I said yes when you asked me out?" I said, shaking my head.

"Because you loubbbbbbbbbbbb mehhhhh," he replied with his mouth full of popcorn. I laughed. The silly things this man does only make me fall harder for him.

I shook myself out of the memories that once brought happiness but now tightened my heart with pain.

"Sorry, kids, the engine gave up on me," Old Lani said, and we all groaned. We pulled out our phones, but of course, we were in a part of the country with no service.

"So what do we do?" Harry asked. Old Lani turned to him.

"Son, don't you know me? I'm disappointed in you," she said playfully, shaking her head. She went to the trunk, pulled out some tools, opened the bonnet, put on her gloves, and began working. This woman never failed to amaze me.

Some of us slid the van door open and sat on the step, while others perched on the edge of the trunk. Suddenly, Jacob appeared with a guitar and began to play my favorite song:

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world...

I closed my eyes, melting into the music. Whenever I had trouble sleeping, he would sing this song to me while strumming his guitar. I smiled unknowingly. It hurt to think about him, but I was afraid of letting go of the memories. They were the pieces that built me up.

I watched River and Ocean dance to the song and smiled. He would have been so proud to see them. I knew he was watching us from above.

I looked up at the sky and whispered,

"I love you."
