Shawn's POV
I was supposed to pick up my mom and sister from the airport in about two hours but I was this close to tell them to get cab instead. I had Alex over my chest sleeping while Camila was playing with my hair. We were on the sofa and I was using most of it but my head was laying on her lap. This was perfect and I didn't want to move.
The pacifier had done wonders and my son loved it by now, which had made this parenting thing a lot easier for us. Unless he was hungry, needed a change of diapers or was actually in discomfort, he was more than happy just hanging with the thing in his mouth.
Camila laugh softly watching the Grinch of TV and I admired the sparkle on her eyes and the rose color on her cheeks. God, I loved her.
"Remember last Christmas?", I said to her. "I was afraid to give you a ring in front of my family and now we're married and have this little buddy with us?"
She looked down at me and bent to kiss my forehead. Her fingertips caressed my cheeks while she stared in silent.
"A lot has happened", she told me in a whisper.
That I knew.
This was going to be the first Christmas I was going to spend without my dad but also the first with my kid.
"I'm so happy I met you", I said and for a second I thought I was going to cry or at least tear up, so I chuckled to cover it. But she knew me too well.
"Baby", she said softly and it feel like the first time in forever. "Thank you... for being so patient".
"I should probably get going", I sighed. "Traffic at this time of the year is the worst".
"Give me Alex", she asked as I sat up and put him on her arms slowly.
"Here", I whispered and it didn't matter how subtly I moved, he still woke up and whined like a little cat.
"I'm here, sweetie", she said softly and cuddle him against his chest.
I swore my heart was about to explode. I leaned and kissed her lips without warning because sometimes I was just that desperate to show her how in love I was.
"Hey", she laughed surprised and looked at me with her big eyes.
"I love you", was my explanation.
"I love you too", I replied.
My mom and sister were staying at a AirB&B just a couple blocks from our apartment. Sinu and Ale had offered them to stay in their house but they kindly refused because didn't want to bother anyone. On the way from the airport they decided to go straight to meet Alex instead of their rental place, though. I told them not to be so loud because he could've been sleeping but the excitement was too much and both of them forgot about my warning the minute we step inside.
"Oh my God", my mom said wiping her tears. "He's perfect".
They hadn't seen Alex in person yet but we had showered all my friend and family in Toronto with pictures of our son from these two months.
"You did good", Aaliyah said as a congratulations.
"Thanks", I frowned.
I walked up to Camila after she put Alex on my mom's arms and hugged her from behind.
"This is so sweet", she whispered in my ear, looking at our son with his grandma and auntie.
"I know", I replied and kissed the side of her forehead.
Lately I couldn't get my hands off of her, which was a mess because Alex also couldn't be too far apart from her and poor Camila was dealing with both of us. Of course I tried to be racional and give her space to not overwhelm her but sometimes, like now, I would just see myself dragged by her magnetism with no control over my moves.
