Camila's POV
I spent Christmas Eve's dinner with my family and Shawn did the same with his family. I drove back to the city after opening presents with my parents, grandparents and sister and stopped by Manny's apartment. I had already dropped my present for them the day before so they could place them under the tree. Shawn greeted me at the door holding a mistletoe over our heads and I kissed him before saying something.
They had opened their presents and thanked me for the gifts. I had gotten Aaliyah and Karen two different sets of earrings and books and a sweater for Manny. Shawn was already rocking his brand new watch and he told me again and again how I shouldn't have bought anything for him, because he already had everything with me. The new salary as a substitute was extremely well paid, at least for what I was used to, so I could afford buying gifts for everyone and I liked spoiling my people.
"Your gift is at my apartment", Shawn whispered on my ear.
Once again, his voice was doing things to me but I tried to keep myself together because we were in front of his family.
"We're going to Central Park", Aaliyah said. "Are you coming?"
"Maybe we'll catch up with you later. I have to give Camila her gift".
"I don't know if that's dirty or not", his sister said and shrugged before putting on her coat.
"It's not", Shawn laughed. "It's just not here. Be careful with dad, ok?"
"I know how to take care of this man", his mom said when she appeared with Manny.
He was wearing the sweater I had given him under his jacket plus a scarf, gloves and a wool hat. Since his inmune system was overwhelmed already, he had to wear a mask, which he really dislike, but under the scarf you couldn't really see it was there.
"Call us when you're ready if you want to join us", Karen said when we dropped them near the 7th Avenue and then headed to Shawn's place.
"So...", he said when we went inside. "Don't freak out when you see it, because it is but it isn't really".
"That makes no sense", I chuckled.
"You'll see", he said and when to his room to get something.
"Ok...", I said when I saw what he was holding in his hand.
"Remember what I said", he warned me and I calmed down. He put the small velvet box in my hand and I opened it slowly. "Do you like it?"
It was a ring, but as he had said, it wasn't a ring. It was beautiful though. A sparkling crystal crescent moon feature that sat on top of a slim silver band. It was small and delicate, and I loved it.
"I love it", I whispered taking it out of the box and sliding it on my finger, taking a look at it.
"Good", he breathed in relief. "I didn't want to have an awkward moment in case my family got the wrong idea, so I preferred to wait and give it to you when we were alone".
"You are so cute", I said caressing his cheek. "It's gorgeous, thank you". I kissed him.
"And I believe you said you had another type of gift for me the other day", he raised his brows seductively.
"Mmm, I think you're right", I said before moving to sit on his lap and kissed him again and again.
...
Gina came back just in time to say goodbye to Karen and Aaliyah. I knew Shawn was holding his breath while the whole interaction went down, but it all worked out perfectly. I think that's what happens when mature adults move on with their lives and still want the best for each other. Aaliyah had a great time here again but she was eager to go back to Toronto to spent the New Year's with her friends and boyfriend. Shawn was taken aback when he heard that she had a boyfriend because he didn't knew anything about it. It was cute how he tried to take care of everyone, even when he wasn't by their side.
