Jenny's pov
as i approached amari's tattoo studio, i was less anxious than i was in the car with timothée and harry. the tension and awkwardness they bombarded me with made me want to end it all. the fact that a calm conversation with them made me more anxious than meeting with my ex after five years says a lot.
slowy, i opened the door, the bell going off as i walked in. the small place was empty, dimly lit. there were five stations with tattoo chairs and the machines, the wall at the back made of black bricks. the front desk was to my right, and i looked at it as i took a step further, awkward as i stood alone.
okay, maybe i'm starting to feel nervous now.
"amari?" i questioned quietly, assuming she was in the back room.
i heard quick shuffling and footsteps before the door near the back wall opened, amari walking out as she mumbled "oh my god—sorry i was just cleaning up."
"that's okay." i replied with a small smile as she walked towards me with her arms open for a hug.
the impact of her fast steps made me move back a little when we embraced into a hug. her natural scent was familiar to me, and i smiled a bit as i rested my chin onto her shoulder, hugging her tightly.
her body was covered in tattoos, it seemed like we both got to express ourselves after moving. her piercings matched her so well, she looked better than ever.
"woah—it's so nice to finally see you again." she said as we pulled away from each other, a smile on her face.
"i can't believe it's been five years, things are so different now." i said.
"i know—we're finally free." she smiled, referring to being trapped in our hometown. "here um." she looked behind her, "how about we have a seat?"
i nodded before we both walked towards one of the tattoo chairs, it was long enough for both of us to sit on.
"so, harry styles? wow." she said before letting out a laugh, "you don't know how startled i was when he answered." she said, and we both laughed.
"in his defense, we thought it was those commercial callers." i said with a laugh.
"i was so confused—and then when he asked me the question about lying i was like well, she's my ex and she likes strawberry lollipops, because i figured you'd be having those around you all the time."
i smiled, "you remembered?" i asked, holding my knees to my chest.
"do you know how many times i've kissed you and—"
"okay okay." i cut her off as i laughed, and she brightly smiled, "and could taste the sweet ass candy you ate." she continued anyways, knowing i was already getting shy.
"maybe i should lay off on the candy, i sound like an addict to everyone." i said, "i mean to be fair i usually only have them when i'm in the studio—or if i need to calm myself down."
"tell me more about your job and working on songs and doing all the amazing things you do." she said, crossing her legs up on the chair to get more comfortable. "how'd it all start?"
