REALITY

the next morning i woke up in a suprisingly good mood. i got ready for school and then ate breakfast. i grabbed my car keys and was about to head out when the door bell ringed. when nobody went to answer i went up myself. i opened the door and saw vinnie.

"hey" he said.
"hi, what are you doing here?" i ask him.
"i didn't know if i could catch you at school so just thought i would drive us there" he said with a smile.
"oh ok, one sec i was just getting ready to leave" i say.
"ok" he says.

i let him inside and go up to my room to grab a pair of shoes. i run downstairs and put them on at the bottom of the stairs. i make my way to the front entrance to see vinnie on his phone.

"you ready to go?" he asks me as he notices my presence.
"yeah, lets go" i say and lock the door to go.

we get into the car and he starts driving to the school. we had a little bit of small talk but not much for being the morning. it takes about 15 minutes to get to the school from my house. we get out and there was about 20 minutes before first period so we had some time.

"you wanna go to the gym while we wait for classes to start?" vinnie asks me.
"sure, let me go get my gym bad from my locker though because i have gym first period" i say.
"ok, meet me there" he says and then we part ways.

i go to my locker and since it was still a bit early until everyone had to be in class, the hallway was pretty empty. there were people here and there but not a lot. i got my gym bag and then went to the gymnasium. there were more people here then in the hallways because people tend to come to the gym before class. i was looking for vinnie, but all i saw were a group of girls gossiping or something and some guys messing around on the basketball court. i was looking around when i saw vinnie on the bleachers. i climbed the stairs on the bleachers and finally got to the row vinnie was sat at.

"hi" i say sitting next him.
"oh hi when did you get there" he says not realizing.
"a second or two ago" i say with a chuckle.
"oh ok, i thought you were sitting there for a while, that would've been weird" he says.
"haha thats funny, there not a lot of people here huh?" i say.
"have you never been early?" he says.
"no, i always just come on time" i say.
"oh, you have gym first period?" he asks.
"yeah" i say.
"weird i was here when the bell rehang, never saw you" he says.
"guess not" i say.
"so you like school so far" i say turning to face him.
"yeah, its chill. i have to start applying to colleges though" he says.
"any in mind yet?" i ask.
"no, but i wanted to stay close but also go tour UCLA" he say.
"oh, thats far.." i say.
"yeah, but you never know. it only the beginning of the year" he says.
"yeah, i don't want you to leave. i feel like it'll be so boring next year, no dixie, james or larray, no you. just me and emma..." i say.
"hey, what happened to thinking positively" he said and lifted my chin up.
"right...." i say sarcastically and we both laugh.

we both talk for a bit until it was time for school to start. by this time there were a lot more people in the gym and they were slowly moving to their first classes. after a bit only a couple of people were left and i was just awkwardly sitting on my phone waiting for james to come and gym to start. i saw nessa come into the class and got to her seat. she didn't come up to me though, but i knew she knew i was in the class because she rolled her eyes when she came. james came soon too. gym started and we had to do this stupid test that we had to run a mile and be tested on it. we would have to do it again but at the end of the year. we all went to the locker rooms and quickly changed. i hurried and went to the track so i could get started in the first group and get it over with. i liked running track so this wasn't hard. after running i saw james sitting on the bleachers so i just sat with him until we were dismissed.
