Y/N threw her bag of clothes on the couch where Hawks was sprawled out. He seemed lost in thought, which was strange for him. Hawks seemed to always be on alert for everything and anything even when he was goofing off.
But now, he seemed distracted.
"I just have to get some stuff from my bathroom then we can take off again." Y/N placed her hands on her hips while tilting her head to the side. "What's wrong? You seem lost in your thoughts."
"Me?" Hawks cleared his throat while shaking his head. "Everything's fine. You do what you need to do."
Y/N sighed, sitting next to Hawks and putting her hand on his knee. "Hawks, I know that finding Toya must be shocking for you. I don't know the whole story between you two, but what you went through was traumatic."
"Why are you getting all mushy gushy with me now, kid?" Hawks raised a brow at Y/N.
"You don't have your usual focus. You're miles away in your own head." Y/N replied, her hand still on Hawks' knee. "You can talk to me, Hawks."
"I know I can," He sat up and placed his hand over hers. "But I am fine. We gotta go as soon as possible, so grab your things and let's head out."

"Sweetheart, you look like a dream," Dabi cooed from the back of the car as Y/N slid into the passenger seat and Hawks into the driver's seat.
"You look like a nightmare," Y/N replied making Hawks chuckle. "So we're going to a hotel tonight then driving tomorrow morning until....?"
"We'll drive for a few hours, then you will stay at the hotel. Toya and I will be back to get to you move onto the next place." Hawks started up the engine and peeled out of the parking lot. "And I don't want to hear it, kid, I know what you're going to say."
"Oh, you mean the logical thing? You mean the part where I say: 'no Hawks, don't go on a one on one mission with a deadly villain'." Y/N looked expectantly at the hero while crossing her arms.
"Oh, sweetheart, I won't kill him," Dabi drawled from the backseat, placing his hands behind his head while closing his eyes. "The fun is just about to begin."
"Kid--"
"Don't 'kid' me, Hawks. This is serious." Y/N stared at him as he started to take off his jacket, leaving him in only his bodysuit, which almost made Y/N choke on her spit the way it fits perfectly to every square inch of his toned body and his baggy cargo bottoms.
"I know this is serious, which is why I'm taking this seriously." Hawks tossed the jacket in the back and Dabi caught it and instantly used it as a pillow. "Listen, I've..I've known that Dabi was Toya for awhile now. The reason why I was so angry was because I had been backed into a corner. I had to bring him in for questioning or our cover was going to be blown."
"Surprise," Dabi sang from the back sarcastically.
Y/N swore her eyes were going to pop out of her head. "And you were appalled when I said I slept with Endeavor."
"That topic is off-limits," Dabi growled as he laid across the back seat, an arm over his eyes.
"What the hell were you doing with this guy, Hawks?" Y/N asked him. Hawks' eyes didn't leave the road ahead of them.
"There's some corruption in the higher up and Dabi can get information faster than most of my guys at my own agency." Hawks' hands gripped the steering wheel tighter. "I told you before, kid. There are gray areas."
Y/N nodded slowly and sighed. "So you two know each other pretty well, then?"
"Oh, me and bridie here go wayyy back," Dabi said with mock endearment. "Then he became a dumbass and almost got out little arrangement exposed."
"What happened?" Y/N asked curiously, turning her head back to look at the villain.
"May 11th is what happened," Dabi shot the hero a glare from under his arm. "He was supposed to be on the hero side giving me information for a raid as we went, just to make sure nothing changed. But someone met a pretty girl on a rooftop."
Y/N's head whipped to look at Hawks, who had reached back blindly and swung until he made contact with Dabi's torso, his eyes never leaving the road.
"Dude,"
"So, basically we're in this because of me," Y/N looked at Dabi who cackled while trying to dodge Hawks' hand. "Oh fuck, Hawks, I told you--"
"I don't wanna hear it, the past is in the past," Hawks' eyes left the road and met hers. They looked like warm honey filled with kindness. "And if I didn't go to that wedding, we wouldn't have our friendship."
Dabi snorted. "Yeah, friendship."
"Toya, do not make me pull this car over."
