Chapter 31

“Lexi” Jared yelled. He started to run toward her as soon he saw the monster picked her up.

“Let her go you ugly fur ball” Roxie yelled at the monster. Jared pulled out his sword and was charging as fast as he could. Noah was running close behind him with a compound bow in his hands shooting arrows toward the monster. Then the monster was pushed back and Lexi fell to the floor.

“What just happen?” Roxie asked

“I don’t know” Lexi looked at the monster that had been thrown back a couple of feet.

“Lexi you okay?” Jared kneed next to her

“Yea but we should get going, just in case it comes back” Lexi told them and stretched out her hands for help. Jared got her hands and pulled her to her feet and they began toward the forest. As they walked deeper and deeper into the cold forest a silhouette began materializing.  They continued to approach the silhouette and it began to get a form of a 6’’4’ man.

“You guys okay?” the man asked

“Yes” Roxie told him

“My name is Alexander” the man introduced himself and stretched out his arm

“Nice to meet you” Lexi stretched out her hand and shake his hand, “I’m Lexi this are my friends Roxie Jared and Noah”

“Nice meeting you but why don’t we finish meeting back in my house, wouldn’t want you kids to get frostbite now would we?” Alexander began walking away toward his house

“Wait you live in the mountain?” Jared ran to catch up to him

“Yes” Alexander moved a branch out of the way and moved to the side while they all passed

“I thought it was to dangerous?” Noah asked

“It is, well was now there is only one abominable left” he told them

“How do you survive?” Noah asked curiously

“Wait you are a warlock right, you have a shield around the forest right?” Roxie said proudly

“Yes, when I saw the monster had you I had to make it bigger to push him away from you” Alexander turned toward Lexi

“Thank you” Lexi told him. They continued to walk in silence until they came into an opening and a small cottage was in the middle with white smoke coming out the chimney behind it a river ran. They walked across the opening to the cottage this part was warmer than anywhere else on the mountain.

“You got to love magic I mean this place is beautiful but without magic it was the coldest part of the mountain; now after I added a little bit of magic it is warmer” Alexander explained. The snow was pretty deep, in every step they sunk and the snow was up to the middle of their shin. They could smell herbs in the air. Alexander opened the door and signaled them to go in. the inside of the cottage seem to be bigger than the cottage itself. Lexi decided not to point it out since Alexander was a warlock. In the middle of the room was a wooden table filled with herbs. A woman was sitting in a chair organizing the herbs.

“How was your morning?” Alexander kissed her cheek

“Good and yours?” the lady replied

“Good I found this kids out by the cave” Alexander explained

“Hello” that was the first time she looked up since they had came in she had big beautiful brown eyes, light brown skin and long jet-black hair up to her waist; she greeted them with a big sweet smile

“Hello” Roxie replied, while Lexi Noah and Jared just smiled back

“You guys hungry?” The lady ask

“Honey don’t be rude and introduced yourself” Alexander told her

“Oh I’m sorry but we have being up here for so long I forget I’m Sofia” she told them

“I’m Roxie, and this is my brother Noah and our friends Lexi and Jared” Roxie introduced them

“Well don’t just stand there make yourself at home” Sofia told them. They all went to the living room and sat in a flowery couch that smelled like lavender with vanilla. Sofia sat in front of them.

“You cold let me bring you a blanket?” Sofia got up

“You don’t have to its okay” Jared told her

“Well then not for you but your friend there is trembling” Sofia pointed at Lexi. Sofia was gone before anyone could say anything.

“Here you go honey and I brought some cookies with some hot chocolate” Sofia wrapped set the cookies and hot chocolate on the center table and wrapped the blanket around Lexi

“Thank you” Lexi hugged the blanket

“So where you kids heading” Alexander walked into the living room

“Forbidding Falls” Noah told him

“What for?” Alexander asked again

“Nothing, we just heard the water there is a perfect temperature” Jared lied

“Lexi you know you can tell me the truth you don’t have to lied to me” Alexander told them

“We are not lying” Lexi told him

“I was a friend of you dad” Alexander told him

“Oh” was all Lexi said

“We should get going” Jared told Alexander

“Not of James, I was a friend of your real dad Axel Von Ferdinand” Alexander told them

“How do you know he was my father?” Lexi was confused she don’t remember ever saying anything about her real dad nor James

“You remind me of him, and I would recognized any Von Ferdinand anywhere” Alexander told her

“You have the same beautiful sweet eyes as him, I don’t know how you guys do it but everyone else I have seen with grey eyes have them cold but not you nor your father they are warm and welcoming; I’ll be back” Sofia told her and got up and left

“By any case you wouldn’t know where he is at would you?” Lexi asked happy that she was getting closer to seeing her real dad

“I’m sorry last time we saw him was 2 years ago, he was staying in a cottage behind the Forbidding Falls waterfall” Alexander told her

“Here” Sofia handed Lexi a necklace. It was a claw holding a grey gem.

“It’s beautiful” Lexi took it in her hands and inspected it

“I was your dads he left it here last time he came to visit” Sofia told her

“We should get going if we want to make it to the cottage before nightfall” Jared told her

“Okay bye and thank you so much” Lei told them. They all said their goodbyes and were off to the Forbidding Falls again. As they got further and further away from the cottage it became colder and colder. They all continued their journey in silence. Jared cleaning his sword, Roxie fixing her nails, Noah getting distracted by everything, and Lexi inspecting her dad’s necklace.

“Ahhhh” they all yelled. Out of the nowhere there was a hard pain in their head as if someone was squeezing their brains. Slowly the pain began to fade and they laid in the floor. Lexi could see a woman approaching her. The woman stood in front of her and picked her up and carried her away. She wanted to scream and ask her where she was taking her. She opened her mouth but nothing came out. Where were her friends she could not see them anywhere. The pain came back she yelled . This time it did not go away until everything went black.
